Summary
Throughout the entirety ofSuper Mario’s lifespan, never has there been an experience likeSuper Mario Bros. Wonder. The latest installment brought a level of magic and creativity to the series that it arguably hasn’t had in almost two decades. Hopefully, however,Super Mario Bros. Wonderwon’t be the last to do so.
Super Mario Bros. Wonderhas been an incredibly massive success for Nintendo, but fans are likely now wondering where the franchise may go next. Obviously, Nintendo could move theSuper Mariofranchiseforward as it naturally does and continue to release entirely different games. Although, perhaps it would be better to keep making remakes like it did withSuper Mario RPG.

Super Mario Needs to Stay on the Remake Bandwagon
The gaming industry has seen remake after remake in the last several years, with some big successes and missteps alike. Typically, if a remake is nothing but a remaster, it garners poor reception. Remakes that not only overhaul a game’s visuals but also modernize its various mechanics and features, however, tend to perform well. One of Nintendo’s remakes,Super Mario RPG, turned out to be a big hit for the franchise by offering both a graphical and mechanical rework. Now that news has leaked that Nintendo has several remakes in the works, it should consider staying on that bandwagon and continuing to dish out remakes of some of its most popular classics.
Super Mario World Is Very Deserving of a Remake
Of all theSuper Mariotitles deserving of a remake, none may compare toSuper Mario World. Widely considered one ofthe bestSuper Mariotitlesever made,Super Mario Worldwas originally released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan in 1990 and then in North America in 1991. Since its release, it has sold nearly 21 million copies, making it the best-selling game for the SNES. Most of what setSuper Mario Worldapart from theSuper Mariotitles before it was its unique gameplay and evolved approach to theSuper Marioformula. To this day, fans still playSuper Mario Worldthrough a variety of sources.
A Remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 Might Also Be in Order
Another classicSuper Mariotitle that has proven over time to be one of the franchise’s most popular isSuper Mario Bros. 3, which was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America in 1990. Many players and critics alike have consideredSuper Mario Bros. 3to be the best platformer ever made, primarily due to its challenge in comparison to previousSuper Mariogames and the overall charm it contributed to the franchise. There is little doubt thatSuper Marioenthusiasts would gladly get behind the news of aSuper Mario Bros. 3remake, although it might make more sense to remake the entireSuper Mario Bros.series at that point.
Super Mario 64 Has Proven Its Worth for a Remake
Most of the gaming world knows ofSuper Mario 64, which is the best-selling title on the Nintendo 64. Released alongside the Nintendo 64,Super Mario 64changed the franchise forever by not only makingSuper Mario3D but also implementing a gameplay loop that has since become a staple for the series. Its continued popularity has resulted in it being one of the most requestedSuper Mariotitles to receive a remake. It’s difficult to deny the impact that a remake of one of theNintendo 64’s most beloved titleswould have on the gaming community.
There are plenty of otherSuper Mariotitles deserving of a remake, and that includes classics such asSuper Mario Sunshine, which ended up being one of the Nintendo Gamecube’s best titles. Whether Nintendo decides to further embrace remake culture with itsSuper Mariofranchise remains to be seen, but the hope is that the veteran developer would consider some of the series' best games if so.
