Like most ever-evolving battle royale titles out there, Respawn Entertainment’sApex Legendshas seen a fair number of glitches and bugs over its seasons. While some cause balancing issues or instability, like problems with abilities for the newest Legend Rampart; others are aesthetic, like aninfinite stim bug discovered for Octane. One amusing glitch for Mirage pointed out today is more in the latter category.
Reddit user Life_exe101 uploaded a video to the r/apexlegends subreddit that depicts one of Mirage’s decoys flying thanks to an alternating pattern of jumps while taking control of the decoy. This maneuver, reminiscent of Samus' bomb jumping inMetroidgames, offers seemingly no gameplay benefit and is likely hard to pull off while under fire from other players, but at the very least it is kind of fun watching theApex Legendscharacter run in the air before plummeting.

According to another user named Kavvadius in the comments of Life_exe101’s Reddit post, this has been possible since Mirage’s abilities were overhauled through a rework released by Respawn Entertainment in May. Considering it doesn’t really hurt anyone, it makes sense for the developers to have their time focused on other adjustments toApex Legends, like removing a racially-charged insultfrom the dialogue of Caustic.
Major adjustments since the start of Season 6 have been directed at Rampart, who headlines the new content. A patch was released in late Augustfixing issues withApex Legends' Season 6like Rampart’s Amped Wall ability causing players to disconnect from servers or break other character models so they appear to have “stretched necks.”
Ensuring a massively popular game likeApex Legendsis properly balanced and bug free is important to keep everyday players happy, but it also plays a part in helping Respawn Entertainment’s game gain prominence as an Esport. The next official competitive circuit forApex Legendsbegins October 3, and theApex LegendsAutumn Circuit will offer teams $500,000for winning its three-month series.
As funny as it would be to see a flying Mirage decoy appear in a major competitive match, the glitch’s lack of any real practicality or impact likely means it will remain a simple parlor trick to entertain Mirage players. However, withApex Legendsconsidering a cross-progression system, perhaps some players will have the chance to entertain their friends across different platforms than they currently use.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version coming this fall.
