Assassin’s Creed Valhallais jam-packed with Easter eggs and references, offering clever nods in just about every nook and cranny. Now, a new Easter egg is beginning to circulate, one that references the popular roleplaying gameDungeons and Dragons. It’s a cool nod to the tabletop RPG, packing in everything from character sheets to theDungeon Master’s campaign.

First noticed by @PlayWithJambo on Twitter, the Easter egg is located at Foris Turre in Wessex. Instead of being calledDungeons and Dragonsoutright,Valhalladubs the game Prisons and Pyewackets, though one of the lines in the Dungeon Master’s notes references “the faded glory found in the bones of dungeons and the mouths of dragons,” a very clear reference to the game’s title.

In addition to the Dungeon Master’s notes, the four character sheets are looselymodeled afterDungeons and Dragons. The characters are interesting, to say the least, including one that is a “bearserker” and another that can communicate with cats and dogs, turning their meows and barks into magic. There are even dice trays scattered around the scene, seemingly abandoned by their owners.

Apparently, tabletop gaming is one of the top ways to pass the time inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’stake on England. Scattered around the world, players will find a dice game called Orlog, which is getting a physical release soon. Plus, with Easter eggs like theDungeons and Dragonsone, it seems Vikings were looking for some fun ways to pass the time while they weren’t out raiding.

Dungeons and Dragonshas seen a meteoric rise in popularity over the last few years, so it makes sense that references to it are being scattered around in games. WithmultipleDungeons of Dragonsgamescurrently in the works, there’s even a chance that they’ll return the favor. It isn’t hard to imagine stumbling across a “bearserker” the next time aDungeons and Dragonsgame is released, and it would certainly be a neat acknowledgment ofValhalla’sEaster egg.

Considering thesize and scope ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, there are likely other Easter eggs waiting around to be discovered. The game has put a heavy emphasis on its world and environments, with small notes and interesting circumstances dotting the entire map. There’s no real telling how long it will take for players to find everything, though with DLC in the cards for the future, it’ll probably be quite some time before fans can say they’ve crossed everything off the list.

Assassin’s Creed Valhallais available for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
