Recently, aBayonetta 3player shared an image of a cat they found in the game. Cats aren’t uncommon inBayonetta 3, as finding and catching cats throughout the title canunlock a reward forBayonettaplayers. However, most of the cats that are present in the game are quick to run away from Bayonetta, who has to give chase. This one, shared by Dangerous_Fan1090, looks like it’s ready to take a post-meal nap, sitting upright in a human-like pose and staring at the ground between its back feet.
In the post, Dangerous_Fan1090 wondered what was wrong with the cat and how to help them. Fans in the comments jokingly assuaged their concerns, with a few suggesting the cat was just taking it easy in a weird upright pose that real-life cats sometimes strike. Another noted thatMorgana fromPersona 5sometimes strikes the same pose. A few others pointed out that it looks like it’s the same cat fromAstral Chain, which is also developed byBayonetta 3’s dev, PlatinumGames. It’s unclear if this an intended crossover Easter egg or a simple matter of a reused asset, though.
As noted,Bayonetta 3has plenty of things to uncover and hunt down, including the Umbran Tears of Blood that can be collected from cats, crows, and frogs. Collecting the Umbran Tears of Blood throughout the game rewards the player with a Phenomenal Remnant.
Bayonetta 3has received primarily positive reviews from fans and critics, which may come as a relief after so many years of waiting. However, the game didn’t release without experiencing some controversy first. Former Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor revealed that her role had been re-cast just prior to the game’s launch. However, additional information eventually came to light regarding her claims, and she added a request for fans to boycott the game and donate the money they would have spent towards charities, including one anti-abortion views. In response, thevoice actress for Viola raised money for trans charities. Regardless of players' personal and political views, the controversy doesn’t seem to have had much of a negative impact on the game’s release.
