Summary
Bosch: Legacyhas been a massive hit on Freevee ever since it launched on the platform in 2022. The spin-off has aired two seasons thus far, with a third season currently in production.Prime Videowas the home of the originalBoschseries from 2014-2021, and has seen a number of supporting characters returned for recurring roles inBosch: Legacy. One of the most popular supporting characters in the original series was Sgt John “Mank” Mankiewicz, portrayed by Scott Klace.
Despite the Hollywood division disbanding in the final season ofBosch, andmost of the characters moving into different jobs in different departments, and Harry Bosch leaving the LAPD altogether, Mank has remained in the same job throughout bothBoschandBosch: Legacy. He has been a massive support to Maddie Bosch during the start of her career as a rookie cop in the LAPD and remains on good terms with Harry Bosch as well.

Who is Mank in Bosch: Legacy?
John “Mank” Mankiewicz is a watch sergeant in the Hollywood division inBosch: Legacy. He first appeared in the original Bosch series, and was a regular support to Harry Bosch, with the two men going back a long way. He kept an eye on Maddie Bosch as she navigated her new role as a rookie cop in the LAPD.
Despite Mank being on television screens for over a decade now, there is very little known about his life outside the Hollywood division. He hardly ever appears other than when he is working at the desk at the station, but he’s one of the most likable characters in the whole Bosch universe.

WhenHoney Chandlergets wrongly arrested for drunk driving by Ellis and Long in Bosch: Legacy season 2, he takes her out of the prison cell she is sharing with a drunk woman, and makes her experience more comfortable until the issue is resolved. He also givesMaddie Boschan advanced heads-up about Ellis' gun being found in the water after Maddie shot him dead to protect her father, proving that it was a legal kill.
Mank appears less frequently inBosch: Legacy, but this is understandable as the focus is not primarily on the LAPD anymore. However, he does act as the connective tissue between the two shows, as he’s the character who has changed the least, and his appearances always make logical sense, rather than being mere fan service. It hasn’t been confirmed if Mank will return inBosch: Legacyseason 3, but his appearance in every season of both shows makes it very likely he will continue to pop up in future episodes. It would be very strange if Mank wasn’t a part ofBosch: Legacymoving forward, and it would be nice to find out more about this character.
