Bungie recently announced that it will be increasing the size of its studio and expanding theDestinyIP. With some notable names joining Bungies Board of Directors as well as some shifts in positions, Bungie looks to be takingDestinyto new levels.
Destinyoriginally launched in 2014 and has had a strong following across two main games and several expansions for each title.Beyond Lightis the currentDestiny2expansionand has started laying the foundation for the next several years in theDestinyfranchise.

In Bungie’s recent announcement detailing its plans for future growth, Bungie mentioned that it is wanting to expandDestinyinto other forms of media. Bungie has appointed Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy to oversee the expansion of theDestinyUniverse into other media. Justin Truman will take over the development leadership ofDestiny 2.
ExpandingDestinyinto other media could be a lot of things however, a key addition to Bungie’s Board of Directors may point towards what other mediaDestinyis headed for. Pamela Kaufman, President of Global Consumer Products for ViacomCBS recently joined Bungie’s Board of Directors alongside Trace Harris, a finance and strategy executive. Kaufman oversees the worldwide licensing and merchandising of ViacomCBS’ portfolio spanning across brands such as Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, Bet, CBS, Showtime, and Paramount Pictures. With Kaufman joining Bungie’s Board of Directors, rumors of aDestinyTV series have started making their way around the internet.
Destinycould very easily be adapted to one or multiple TV series. With the large catalogue of stories available throughoutDestinyLore, there is no shortage of creative content to adapt to a TV series. Stories like the ones surrounding Shin Malphur and Dredgen Yor could make a whole season and allow more people to learn about the connections betweenThe Last Word and the Thorn Hand Cannons.
Bungie could also do a prequel series exploring events like Twilight Gap or even go as far back as exploring the life of some of the first Guardians called The Risen. To further expand on the options available for aDestinyTV series, Bungie could also explore some of the more recent stories such as The Dark Future timeline where Eris Morn turns evil and turns fellow Guardians to the Darkness, leading Ana Bray to murder Queen Mara Sov. Even exploringPrince Uldren’s new life as The Crowworking for Spider could be series that fans would be interested in watching.
Bungie has a highly creative team capable of telling amazing stories that could easily be adapted to TV. From exploring some of the current lore stories to making all new story lines purely for TV, Bungie is not short of options for how they can expandDestinyinto other forms of media.
