Activision’s battle royaleCall of Duty: Warzonehas been in the process of changing for some time. After integrating with Treyarch and Raven Software’sBlack Ops Cold War, Zombies arrived inWarzone’s Verdansk, and as thezombies have spread to places like the BCH4 TV Stationthere are indications that nukes will be launched to wipe out the threat. The day this zombie plague becomes unmanageable grows ever closer, with Activision teasing the horde will invade Atlas Superstore next.
This underlying zombie invasion plotline is believed to be coming to an end on April 21 alongsideWarzone’s second season of post-Black Ops Cold Warcontent, thoughbugs have shown some players what nukes landing in Verdanskshould look like ahead of time. Before doomsday does come to be, Activision wants to ramp up the tension by giving fans an idea of the gravity behind the zombie spread.

To that end, news site Charlie Intel’s co-founder Keshav Bhat received a package from the publisher yesterday containing an Atlas Superstore bag and a business card. The card makes tongue-in-cheek zombie jokes reading, “Clean up on aisle four. Bring more than a mop. The place for killer deals. Their latest customers shop long after they drop.” While this doesn’t specify when zombies will appear inCall of Duty: Warzone’s Superstore, the implication is they will soon.
The publisher has made a habit of disseminating news this way, withBlack Ops Cold Warbeing revealed at the tail end of a weeks-long scavenger hunt based on clues sent to its various partners, and other stages ofWarzone’s zombie spread also teased by ominous notes. It makes sense for the horde to approach this Superstore landmark, whichWarzone’s website indicates is huge, accessible, and “an excellent place to commandeer.”
Another potentially interesting thing about zombies coming to Atlas Superstore is the structure’s proximity to Verdansk Airport - a means of travel that could pose a threat to the rest of the globe, thus necessitating nuclear armaments. Regardless if the long-teased event comes about because of this or not, it remains to be seen whetherWarzone’s big nuke event will live up to the hype for fans.
In the meantime, there is still plenty of fun to be had for players who want to get in on some battle royale action with or without zombies. Yet bugs andhackers still affectWarzoneen masse, much like otherCall of Dutytitles, so hopefully Activision and its circle of developers can keep their upkeep of the game consistent while preparing for big events to come.
