Elden Ringis not categorized as a horror game, but there are plenty of gruesome sights within it. FromSoftware’s open world epic is filled with all kinds of unspeakable horrors and terrifying monsters that players have to contend with.Elden Ringwastes no time confronting players with these disturbing sights, as the very first boss players encounter in the game is truly unnerving.
The first boss inElden Ringis the Grafted Scion, which players encounter right after they make their character. FromSoftware didn’t necessarily intend for players to defeat the Grafted Scion in their first encounter. It’s expected that the Grafted Scion will kill the player and send them to theLands Between. This sets the tone for the rest of the game, as there will be many moreElden Ringbosses that give players trouble.

The Grafted Scion moves fast and will likely make quick work out of mostElden Ringplayers, so many may not necessarily get a good look at it. However, YouTuber Zullie the Witch has provided a video that gives fans an up-close-and-personal look at the Grafted Scion, revealing that its design is even creepier than one might initially realize.
The video acts as a tour of the Grafted Scion’s body, showing players that it has the face of a child with golden eyes. TheElden Ringbosshas various limbs attached to the mass of flesh that makes up its body, with numerous feet and hands extending from its core. This gives the Grafted Scion an almost spider-like or crab-like appearance, which is appropriate because its AI name is GraftSpider, according to Zullie the Witch. But even though it seems most of the limbs came from human sources, Zullie the Witch also points out that other creatures also played a role in creating this monstrosity.
The Grafted Scion has feathers sticking out of its body, along with a limp wing. Zullie the Witch removed the cloak that normally covers the Grafted Scion’s body, and discovered that its torso seems to be made of other large torsos that have been grafted together, giving it multiple spines. Not all of these seem to be from human sources either, as Zullie the Witch believes that one was pulled from anElden Ringtroll.
Elden Ringplayers will encounter multiple Grafted Scions over the course of their adventure, and they will likely kill a few before they reach the ending. There are plenty of otherbizarre monsters prowling the Lands Betweenas well, soElden Ringplayers will have no shortage of nightmare fuel by the time the game is over.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
