Summary
Mintrocket has released a brand-new update for its critically acclaimed title,Dave the Diver, bringing a host of important changes, as well as a free new DLC for players to download. The update brings even more content toDave the Diver, after last year’sDredgeDLC was released for the game.
Dave the Diverwas one of the big surprises of 2023. It was first announced as a mobile title back in 2018, but disappeared until it reappeared in 2022. Few could have expected the critical acclaim it went on to achieve, becoming one of thebest underwater exploration gameson the market. There was some controversy along the way - namely, whether the game can be considered “indie” with its developer Mintrocket being owned by huge publisher Nexon. However, this was semantics aimed at the game’s awards, and broadly the gaming community had a ton of fun withDave the Diver.

Thelatest update forDave the Diveris a big one. It adds theGodzillaDLC across all platforms, which wasfirst announced forDave the Diverback in February. The update is completely free, although it can only be grabbed until November 23, when Mintrocket plans to delist all DLC for the game. Players who pick it up will still be able to download the DLC after this point, so fans of the game should be sure to grab it. The DLC itself offers three new missions, as well as new dishes and Godzilla statues to find around the sea.
While theGodzillaDLC is certainly the highlight of the newDave the Diverupdate, it’s not the only change made. Players can now assign keybinds to mouse buttons 4 and 5, and several achievements previously not tracking correctly have been fixed. The update also solves a ton of miscellaneous bugs, including one issue causingDave the Diver’s Branch Managersto not be as efficient as they should be. Overall, it’s a solid patch that should make the entire experience much smoother, with enough new content to draw old players back for another playthrough.
With the unsuspected success ofDave the Diver, it will be interesting to see how long developer Mintrocket continues to support the game with new content. Earlier this year,Mintrocket revealed its new game:Waverunners, a team-based PVP arena battler. It’s certainly a change in pace fromDave the Diver, and it seems the studio has other plans beyond its current popular title.
