Dead Spaceis well-known and loved by survival horror fans, and the 2023 remake is no different. The cult classic takes players to theUSG Ishimura with Isaac Clarke, an engineer, and other crew mates as they respond to a distress call received from the spaceship. Of course, when they arrive, they realize that the ship has been overrun by horrifying creatures called Necromorphs, and it is up to Isaac to spearhead an escape plan and hopefully save his wife Nicole, a doctor on the ship. The main protagonist is where players experience one of the first significant changes from the original, with Isaac now having a voice. Along these lines, most changes that Motive Studio made enhanced the story, giving greater context to the characters that became well-known in the OG.
The set-up and storyline remain the same in theDead Spaceremake, so those that played the original will know what to expect for the most part. As the story unfolds, many twists and turns reveal things are not all they seem when figuring out what exactly went down on Ishimura. Players will encounter various monstrous enemies and discover life-altering secrets while trying to repair a doomed ship. This sci-fi mystery takes place throughout 12 chapters, staying true to its predecessor. The remake honors and re-imaginesDead Space(2008) while adding just enough new content to keep those familiar with the game on their toes.

Completing the main storyline will take players approximately 12-14 hours, with eachchapter about an hour long. However, despite the linear narrative, there are ample opportunities to backtrack and find different collectibles, weapons, upgrades, and more.
Players can increase Isaac’s skills and weapons to give him a stronger chance at survival. Exploration is the primary way that the different weapons and schematics are found in theDead Spaceremake, which is only slightly off from the original, where players were forced to spend more of their time and credits at the in-game store if they wanted new weaponry.
For completionists, the game could take anywhere from 20-30+ hours if they’re going to earn all the trophies, get every upgrade, or find all the suit schematics. Furthermore, the game encourages players to replay the main story to unlock specific achievements and experience different gameplay. There is even an opportunity to seean alternate secret endingthat hints at the future of the rebooted franchise.
