With potential variants of Wade Wilson/Deadpool, the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and rumored cameos by several X-Men characters from the 20th Century Fox universe,Deadpool 3might end up being one of the MCU’s most intriguing projects in years. And if the most recent report is true, it will certainly up the excitement level.
While details have been kept under wraps about the highly anticipatedMCUproject, what is known about the story is that it willfocus on a team-up between Deadpool and Wolverine, as the two will likely provide plenty of fourth-wall-breaking comedy material following their characters' interactions in 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverine(and briefly inDeadpool 2’spost-credit scene). The MCU was given control of the Deadpool character following 20th Century Fox’s acquisition by Disney in 2019. The film will be the cinematic universe’s first R-rated film.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via X), Liev Schreiber will reprise his role as Victor Creed/Sabertooth for the upcoming threequel. Previously portrayed by Tyler Mane in 2000’sX-Men, Schreiber played the animalistic villain inX-Men Origins: Wolverine,a film met with mixed reviews from critics. However, one of the few highlights was Schreiber’s performance and the character’s backstory.
Despite not having any sibling relations in the comics, Wolverine and Sabertooth are revealed to be half-brothers in the films. And if the pair’s chemistry is anything like how it was inX-Men Origins: Wolverine,fans are sure to appreciate seeing the two share the screen if the rumors are true.
In addition,SuccessionstarMatthew Macfadyen is rumored to be playing a character named Paradoxin the film. Allegedly, the character will be an agent working for the Time Variance Authority — the same organization from theLokiseries that is bent on preserving the Sacred Timeline. As the release date approaches, more details will soon begin trickling in and hopefully confirm many of these reports.
In addition to Reynolds in the titular role, other returning cast members who have been confirmed are Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Rob Delaney as Peter, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.Emma Corrin has joined the cast in an undisclosed villain lead role. It is also rumored that Jackman and Schrieber will be joined by other former X-Men stars Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden, who will be reprising their roles as Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops, respectively.
Deadpool 3marks the third director in theDeadpoolfranchise/trilogy, asStranger ThingsandThe Adam Project’sShawn Levy is now behind the camera. The screenplay is written by the writing team of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, along with Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy.
