On Thursday, Microsoft held its JulyXbox Games Showcasefeaturing upcoming games for the Xbox Series X. The show was filled with game reveals for huge titles both new and old, but for the community of From Software game fans, the Xbox Games Showcase was nothing but disappointment. Despite the excitement over the possible showing of a newElden Ringreveal, From Software did not make an appearance.

Many of them are expressing sadness or depression due to the lack ofElden Ringnews, while others are frustrated with various reporters that hinted atElden Ringmaking an appearance at the show. Some are focusing on the future with wild speculation. But for the most part, everyone is having fun with the situation.

What’s best about the community are all of the users coming together to post collections of information ofElden Ringdetails. Given the large amount ofFrom Softwareplayers coming to the subreddit looking for new information, these types of collections are the next best thing. Perhaps fans will find something that they weren’t previously familiar with.
From Software fans are now turning their attention to the next be gaming event of the summer, Gamescom 2020, which is holding an online games showcase this year instead of an on-the-ground convention. It seems unlikely thatElden Ringwould appear there, but there’s definitely a small chance, asElden Ringpublisher Bandai Namco is confirmed to be participating. At this point, though, From Software fans are having as much fun with the wait as they would with new material.
Beyond Gamescom, there are likely to be further events from both Sony and Microsoft for the PS5 and Xbox Series X in the months ahead. Just think of the memes that might be made if the drought lasts all the way through the nextGame Awards.
In the end, it’s understandable thatFrom Software’sElden Ringwas not shown during the July Xbox Games Showcase. The running theme for the entire show was that every game shown will be coming to Xbox Game Pass. So while Microsoft may still be partnering with From Software for advertising in the future, this was not the showcase forElden Ring.
