InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,Messmer Soldier’s Axeis a new weapon of the Axe weapon type. The weapon weighs 5.5 and comes equipped with theAsh of War: War Cry, but this skill is not unique and can be changed.
If you are not keen on using the War Cry, you can use different Roars, such as theAsh of War: Braggart’s Roar, which changes the animation of heavy attacks.
TheTwo-Handed Sword Talismanis a new Talisman added to the DLC that can be great to equip while using the Messmer Soldier’s Axe. It increases the damage of attacks with two-handed weapons by 15%, but this can not stack with other Talismans like theAxe Talisman.
The Messmer Soldier’s Axe can be upgraded usingSmithing Stonesto +25and can benefit from spell-based or consumable weapon buffs.

Messmer Soldier Shield Overview: Stat Requirements, Effects, & Skill
Worn roundshield carried by soldiers loyal to Messmer, the Impaler. The largest of all metal shields in their class.
InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,Messmer Soldier Shieldis a new weapon of the Medium shield type. It weighs 5.0 and is primarily used for blocking enemy attacks. It has a 100 Physical Damage Negation, meaning that Physical Attacks will not damage you while you are blocking, but they will consume stamina.
This shield is an excellent choice for a Poke Shield build, which revolves around you attacking the enemy with a thrusting sword or spear while blocking all the time. The Talismans you may use to enhance this build arePearl Shield Talisman,Greatshield Talisman,Spear Talisman, and eitherViridian Amber Medallion +3or theTwo-Headed Turtle Talisman. Not only will this increase your ability to block and take less stamina, but also allow you to deal high amounts of damage as counterattack thrusts.
The Messmer Soldier Shieldcan be upgradedusingSmithing Stones to +25and can benefit from spell-based or consumable weapon buffs. The shield has no Ash of War, so you can use it to parry enemy attacks. It can also be infused with any of the numerous Ashes of War available.

Where To Find Messmer Soldier’s Axe & Shield Location
Toget the Messmer Soldier’s Axe as well as the Shield inShadow of the Erdtree, you must find and defeat Messmer Soldiers and hope they drop the weapons. Messmer Soldiers can be seen patrolling the main roads throughoutGravesite Plain,Scadu Altus,and inside Legacy Dungeons such asCastle Ensisand Shadow Keep.
There are different types of Messmer Soldiers, some of which carry spears and drop them if defeated. However, you must find the soldiers who carry the axes and the shields.
From theCastle Front Site of Grace, summon Torrent and head southeast, following the road to the left path. Once you are past the wooden barricades, you will encounter two soldiers you can kill and loot. If they do not drop the weapons, head further east, and you will come across a small camp with multiple soldiers in different areas here. Clear out this entire area, and one of them should drop the weapons; if not, you can fast-travel back to the Site of Grace and try again.
If you are not fond of the previous farming spot, you can go to theMain Gate Plaza Site of Grace, which you can access after defeating theGolden Hippopotamusinside Shadow Keep. From the Grace, head northwest, going up the staircase and reaching three Messmer Soldiers.
Tips To Increase Item Drop Rate In Elden Ring
As the drop rate of these weapons is pretty low, you will need to increase your discovery rate. This can be done by increasing your Arcane stat and equipping theSilver Tear Mask,Silver Scarab Talisman, and using theSilver-Pickled Fowl Footor theSilver Horn Tender. Messmer Soldiers can also drop Spears and theArmor Setwhile you are hunting for the Axe and Shield.
