The team of modders working on remakingFallout: New Vegashas released an all-new energy weapon bundle that anyone can install and use inFallout 4. The featured weapons are drawn fromNew Vegas’s classic roster of armaments, and as they were originally designed to fit perfectly into theFalloutuniverse, their re-built and upgraded variants feel right at home as mods for the newer title.
Whereas someFalloutmods opt to set players up to explore entirely new, never-before-seen locations, as is the case withFallout: Ashfall’s post-apocalyptic Hawaii map, others are more interested in using newer technology to rebuild old classics that fans already know and love. AsNew Vegasnever received a new-gen upgrade of any sort, it’s not strange to see a team of dedicated modders working to correct this problem.

Fallout: New Vegasdoes not currently have an official remake in the pipeline, as far as anyone is aware, but there is a team of developers working on its unofficial port to the newerFallout 4version of Bethesda’s RPG engine.Fallout 4: New Vegasis the name of the project, and though it is still in the early stages of production and unlikely to come out soon, the developers have been periodically putting out piecemeal mod packages forFallout 4players to enjoy as standalone offerings. The new Recharger Family mod is one such example, and it adds three infinite ammo laser guns fromNew Vegas’s armory.
It remains to be seen whether the mod’s Recharger Rifle, Recharger Pistol, and MF Hyperbreeder Alpha can compete withFallout 4’s most powerful weapons, but they do add a fair bit ofNew Vegaszest for those who are keen on such things. The mod team in question had previously put out a number of other, smaller mods, such as the AEP-7 Laser Pistol, but the new bundle is the biggest such release yet. More are likely to come as the production ofFallout 4: New Vegascontinues, of course.
The project itself, as a whole, is roughly comparable to theMorrowindremake inThe Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, though it’s not nearly as far along in its production pipeline, from the looks of it. Yet, the fact that the team has been slowly releasing new standaloneFallout 4mods over the course of 2023 is a good sign that the process is moving along, slow though it may be.
Earlier in 2023,Fallout: New Vegasdevs said they’d love a remasterto happen, but that wasn’t a confirmation that anything of the type was happening in the background. However, with both Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda both now sitting under the Xbox umbrella, anything is possible.
Fallout: New Vegasis available now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
