Venom: Let There Be Carnagetook over the box office in North America during its opening weekend. That feat comes as no surprise given the character’s popularity, large parts of which come from the ‘90sSpider-Mananimated series that gets recreated in these fantastic fan-made posters.
That short-lived portrayal ofSpider-Mansaw Venom play out two facets of his classic comic book storyline, the one where the black symbiote takes over Peter Parker before latching on to Eddie Brock, and a later one where the two join forces to battle Carnage and a couple of Doctor Strange’s foes. Suffice to say,Venom and Carnagelook just as hungry in their throwback form.

The artist in question is The Supreme (@spidey.supreme), whose account, just like the name suggests, is completely devoted to all things Peter Parker, meaning a lot of content is going up right now due toLet There Be Carnage’srelease andSpider-Man: No Way Homeclosing in. As for the art, the Carnaged Venom looks just as spectacular as he did back then, only now taking advantage of a pristine resolution that really lets those purple shades used in the series pop.
The Supreme claims he completed the drawing using nothing but Autodesk Sketchbook and his fingers instead of a stylus, which really makes this effort even more worthy of praise. Both posters also help highlight how characters like Venom and Carnage benefit from the added realism of modern CGI, especially since the close-up two-faced version of them admittedly turns out far better in its movie form.
Venom’s popularity is probably at an all-time high right now, as the character is set to play a big part inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2on the PS5, possibly introducing some new takes on the anti-hero. Although,Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s reviews are mixedat best up to this point, the movie does appear to keep the same silliness and tone that made the first one a whopping commercial success, a path that its sequel seeks to emulate.
Of course, most of the buzz currently involvingTom Hardy’sVenomis centered on a post-creditsscene that promises to have Spidey-Verse shattering consequences as Sony’s Spider-Man Universe gets further intertwined with the MCU. All in all, there’s probably no better time to watch how this crossover plays out in theSpider-Man: The Animated Serieson Disney Plus.
