AMC has three additionalThe Walking Deadspinoffs coming down the line, the first of which will beThe Walking Dead: Dead City, which is scheduled to premiere in June 2023. The spinoff starsLauren Cohan as Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, who find themselves in post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Beforehand,Fear The Walking Deadseason 8will conclude the story with two six-episode parts, the first of which premieres on Sunday, Aug 04, 2025. “This next phase of our belovedWalking Deadfranchise promises to engage and enthrall faithful viewers," said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks, in a statement, “Fans new and old will love seeing zombies walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, beneath the Eiffel Tower, inside the Louvre, and at dozens more exotic and iconic locations from around the country and world.”
The Walking Deadoutlived the zombie crazethat helped it achieve success for AMC, and it was arguably a weaker show as it progressed. Still, the ratings were strong enough for AMC to build plans for aWalking Deaduniverse long before the original series concluded. However, it remains to be seen if audiences will continue to tune in toThe Walking Deadspinoffs considering the main series lost a lot of its audience over the year. Of course, die-hard fans remained loyal to the end, soThe Walking Deadspinoffs will have a built-in audience that can combat any zombie fatigue.
