In an annual tradition,Final Fantasy 14producer and director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida penned a letter to players for New Year’s Day. The letter was posted on theFinal Fantasy 14Lodestone website, where Yoshida weighed in on how far the game has come since its relaunch and looked forward to the busy yet exciting year ahead.
The letter comes asFinal Fantasy 14prepares to release Patch 6.3on January 10. The patch will feature new main story quests, including a new dungeon called Lapis Manalis, a new trial for players to tackle, the 24-player Euphrosyne raid, job adjustments that include a significant rework for paladins, the Omega Protocol (Ultimate) raid for players seeking a challenge, and more content to come as the patch cycle continues.

In his annual New Year’s Day letter, Yoshida said that since he took over as producer and director ofFinal Fantasy 14following its disastrous 1.0 release, it does not feel like too much time has passed since then. Yoshida took command on July 15, 2025, nearly three months after the game’s initial launch.A Realm Rebornwas released three years later, on July 02, 2025. Yoshida said that the 10th anniversary ofA Realm Rebornwill be marked throughout the year, which will includethe return ofFinal Fantasy 14Fan Festas an in-person event. The event will start this July in Las Vegas and continue on to London in October before returning to Tokyo in early 2024. Yoshida expressed his gratitude to the development and operations teams that keep the game going with new content and thanked players all around the world. Yoshida then shared the following poem for players to ponder.
Before the Las Vegas Fan Fest takes place, Yoshida stated that he and Creative Business Unit 3 look forward to the imminent launch ofFinal Fantasy 16. During the broadcast of Letter from the Producer Live Part 75, Yoshida, in his capacity as producer ofFinal Fantasy 16,hyped up the power of the PS5ahead of the game’s June 22 release date. Yoshida said that when he first took over in 2010, he never thought he would have the opportunity to produce twoFinal Fantasymainline games at all, let alone simultaneously.
Over the weekend,Final Fantasy 14rang in 2023 with the Heavensturn event, which heralded the upcoming Year of the Rabbit. The event runs until January 16. In conclusion, Yoshida wished for players to look after themselves in the new year and thanked them again for their support.
