ThoughFinal Fantasy 14is undergoing a day of server maintenance at the time of writing, Square Enix released the patch notes for the 6.38 a day in advance. The notes go over some changes to the PvP balance inFinal Fantasy 14, along with a change to raid loot distribution and some bug fixes.

The reason whyFinal Fantasy 14is undergoing such a lengthy maintenance period is due to some serverupgrades taking place in the North American data centers. Servers located on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis data centers will have their equipment changed out to ensure that long-term support of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG will continue well past the tenth anniversary ofA Realm Reborn. Earlier today, Square Enix went over what players can expect once the servers come back online.

Furthermore, players can jump right into any instance of the Pandaemonium: Abyssos raid tier without any prerequisite clears during the week. On normal difficulty, players can now earn as many Unsung Blades of Abyssos as they want from The Eighth Circle, which can be turned in for item level 620 weapons. However, it remains to be seen what tangible and immediate results the server upgrades will have for players once the game returns online.
