According to Kitase, co-director Tetsuya Nomura, writer Kazushige Nojima, and himself have completed what he calls the “first part.” He then brings up that he’d like for fans to post their feedback regardingRebirth, which will help influence some elements of the story based on their reactions.
According to aitaikimochi, based on Kitase’s reaction and comments during this interview, it doesn’t necessarily imply that the third game’s story would drastically alter the majorly established story beats just based on the player’s reaction toFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Rather, it sounds like Kitase is asking for players to post their reactions online and discuss the game since the team really enjoys how players react to the games they make.
The story ofRebirthis looking to be very intriguing, as it only retells the portion of the story up until the Fallen Capital, but also has some emphasis on the fallout of Cloud’s actions from the prior entry. Betweenan episode focused on Zack Fair’s survivaland the implication of multiple timelines being merged, fans will just need to wait and see what Square Enix has planned for this game and how it will lead into the next.
