While most would say thatFinal Fantasy 7is the biggest of the series, there are fans of every single game from the long-running RPG franchise, includingFinal Fantasy 9. Despite being one of the more underrated titles,Final Fantasy 9is soon getting an animated children’s series. Fans haven’t forgotten this amazing title, and some are still cosplaying as the characters with stunning results.
WhileFF9has been rereleased on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam, it has not yet received the kind of remaster that some of the otherFFgames have gotten. The original title, released in 2000, isreceiving aFinal Fantasy 9fan remake, but nothing from any of the official channels as of yet. But one fan, Reddit user MeruruAya, has taken her love ofFF9a step further by attempting to bring one of the main characters to life: Princess Garnet.

In a post earlier today, MeruruAya posted a delightful photo ofFinal Fantasy 9’s Princess Garnet cosplay, photographed by Apuchuprods. She’s wearing the white dress from the final scene of the game, which is a heart-wrenching scene and one that many fans remember very well. The dress is a gorgeous, wedding-style dress complete with headdress and jewelry that is nearly an exact replica of what Garnet, also known as Dagger, is wearing during the game’s climax. This amazing cosplay has been met with much delight from fans ofFF9on theFinal Fantasysubreddit.
The artist posted thatFinal Fantasy 9means “the world” to her, and that her tailoring project has helped with her suicidal thoughts and depression. Anyone can tell that this is a labor of love; the artist says that she “dedicated everything” and spent about a month in making this beautiful outfit. This has to be in line for one of thebestFinal Fantasy 9cosplaysthat anyone has ever shared online.
It is likely that while the sequel toFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeand theFinal Fantasy 1remake, calledStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins, are still in the works, any otherFFtitle won’t receive the same kind of update. But fans are stillhoping thatFinal Fantasy 9will get an HD upgradesomeday. If beautiful fan art like this doesn’t get the development team excited for a possible return of Zidane, Garnet, and the whole team of misfits to ride again, then most likely nothing will. Hopefully, afterFF7 Remakeis completed, players will get some news about more oldFFgames to be remade with modern graphics.
Final Fantasy 9is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
