Genshin Impactis releasing a new Liyue character named Gaming in Version 4.4, and his flashy animations have finally confirmed that he will be a 4-Star Pyro Claymore. While theLantern Rite update forGenshin Impacthas traditionally been generous to players, its 2024 edition is shaping up to be the best one yet. Not only will it see the debut of the eagerly-anticipated Cloud Retainer, but Xianyun will also be joined by Gaming, who was known as Lion Dance Boy in his earlier leaks.
On top of the two new characters, Version 4.4 is alsoadding Chenyu Vale toGenshin Impact’s world map, as the new zone will finally connect Fontaine and Liyue together. Players will be able to gather over a hundred wishes in Version 4.4 by exploring its jade wilderness, which may come in handy for those who want to pull for Xianyun, Xiao, Shenhe, or Ganyu. On the other hand, fans will be able to invite Gaming (or a different Liyue 4-Star) for free as part of the Lantern Rite flagship event.
Genshin Impact’s Gaming Is a 4-Star Pyro Claymore Character From Liyue
Recent footage ofGaming’s animations shared by Meroon theGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit not only confirms that he will be using a Claymore as his weapon of choice, but also showcases some truly bedazzling animations. HoYoverse took inspiration from lion dancers to design Gaming’s ability kit and animations inGenshin Impact, as even his stylish color scheme has symbolic meaning when viewed under a lion dancing lens – with black usually signifying young and energetic lions.
As seen in Mero’s video, the animations are not only a tier above whatGenshin Impactplayers have come to expect from a 4-Star character, but they also upstage some 5-Stars as well. The vibrant neon colors of Gaming’s lion mask contrast nicely against his black outfit, and apparently the colors of his idle animation are randomized. Taking this into account, it’s almost a certainty that Gaming will play a major role in the upcoming Lantern Rite event, though it is rumored that Neuvillette will attempt to meetZhongli inGenshin ImpactVersion 4.4 as well.
While some players were hoping that Gaming would use a Sword instead of a Claymore, it would appear that Bennett will retain his title as the sole Pyro Sword character for the time being. WithArlecchino as a Pyro Polearm in Genshin Impactall but confirmed, it would seem that HoYoverse is attempting to save any potential Pyro Sword users for Natlan in Version 5.0. While Chevreuse’s animations are somewhat understated, the animations that Gaming uses are hopefully a sign the developers won’t shy away from designing a flashy 4-Star character if and when it makes sense.
