After months of speculation,Genshin Impacthas finally confirmed the arrival of a new nation named Sumeru in the next major update. So far developer HoYoverse has introduced three major regions to the game, Mondstadt, Liyue and the islands of Inazuma.
Even though the arrival of a newGenshin Impactnation seems to be the main focus of the update, there also seems to be a lot of hype around the new Sumeru characters. The most exciting thing about upcoming additions to the playable roster is probably the fact that a big number of them will be equipped with a Dendro vision.

A brand newGenshin Impactleak apparently reveals more information about a new character that will join the playable roster in the foreseeable future. A credible leaker by the name GenshinBLANK has revealed that the upcoming updates will introduce an architect to the playable roster and his name is Kavi. He is the creator of the famous Palace of Alcazarzaray which is an unique location in the new Sumeru region. Kavi is also known for being the roommate of a popularGenshin Impactcharacter named Al-Haithamwho has been leaked a number of times so far. Al-Haitham’s name is based on an Arab scientist named Ibn al-Haytham which makes sense since the whole Sumeru region is based on the cultures of Southwest Asia and the Middle East.
Another popular leaker, Ubatcha1, mentioned that the architect’s name is still not set in stone, and his name could be changed in the future. The appearance of his roommate Al-Haitham is apparently based on a popularHonkai Impact 3rdcharacter named ‘Su’. This won’t be the first time for developer HoYoverse to take inspiration for itsGenshin Impactcharacters from Honkai’s rosteras popularGenshin Impactcharacters like Venti, Raiden Shogun, and Yae Miko all have their respective counterparts in the other game.
When it comes to Kavi’s release date, the only confirmed thing is that he won’t be a part of the upcomingGenshin ImpactVersion 3.0since HoYoverse already revealed the three characters that will join the playable roster in the first Sumeru update, Tighnari, Collei, and Dori. The three characters will most likely be spread across the two banner cycles for update 3.0.
Players expect Tighnari to appear on the update’s first banner as he is confirmed to be the only new five-star character in 3.0 which means that at least one of the banner cycles will feature a re-run. A couple of leaks have been hinting that players will have the option toacquire the Dendro character Colleifor free by finishing a couple of quests in 3.0.
