One of the most highly anticipated titles of 2020 is CD Projekt RED’sCyberpunk 2077, even following itsdelay outside of the original April launchwindow. The studio has made some major announcements over the past year including the crowd pleasing Keanu Reeves reveal last year during Microsoft’s E3 press conference. In addition to Reeves, it seems the open world action RPG is getting another celebrity to join its world with Canadian pop singer Grimes.
While the singer has previously been confirmed to be apart of theCyberpunk 2077soundtrack and even performed one of the songs live at The Game Awards this past December, new details about her in-game character have finally surfaced. Grimes answered a few fan questions during a recent livestream over the past weekend and naturally, the singer revealed she’d be apart of the game as well. Based on her description, her character apparently has a tragic and shocking backstory.

Unfortunately, the livestream has since been removed but the content from Grimes has been captured on theCyberpunk 2077subreddit. Please note that the following may be considered a spoiler for the game, which is also likely why the video had been removed.
When asked about her role inside of the game,Grimesrevealed her character is a pop star named Lizzy Wizzy. During the hour of gameplay she saw, Lizzy Wizzy apparently commits suicide on stage during a performance, which prompts a trauma team to rush out and perform emergency surgery on her in front of the crowd. The medical team ultimately replaces her whole body with cybernetics to which she gets up and finishes the show after being clinically dead for about an hour.
Naturally, Grimes thought this snippet of gameplay was fantastic as she called it one of the greatest pieces of performance art ever made. She’s clearly excited for the game, going as far as already calling the game extremely good, even if she didn’t play the game directly.
In addition to more story details, the other big news is that the game is officially confirmed for the next generation. CD Projekt RED revealed that players who pick up the Xbox One version ofCyberpunk 2077will get afree upgrade to the Xbox Series X versionof the game once it is ready to go. Interestingly enough, the developer didn’t mention anything about the PlayStation 5, but it’s likely due to the fact that the reveal came as a response to an Xbox specific Tweet. It’d be hard to imagine the Xbox Series X getting the game and the PS5 version missing out.
Cyberpunk 2077is set to release on September 17th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
