SomeHalo Infinitefans are calling for 343 Industries to bring back the classic Spartan Ops mode fromHalo 4. At the moment,Halo Infiniteis still focusing on bringing features to the game that many expected upon release.

343 Industries has received a lot of criticism from theHalocommunity in the last few years. Just recently, the developerremoved many fan-favorite maps and modes from Season 3 ofHalo Infinite, which didn’t do much to help matters. Adding a mode back that many players enjoyed over the years would go a long way to restoring fan confidence in a developer that badly needs it at the moment. However, the roadmap for content coming in future months seems steady, and most players still playing the game seem generally content with the direction the game is heading in. But for 343 Industries, “generally content” may not be enough to keep the game alive for too much longer.

In the Reddit post calling for the return of Spartan Ops, players shared their memories of the mode, good and bad. Some criticized its use of recycled campaign levels fromHalo 4, but there was an acceptance that anyHalo Infiniteversion would have the powerful Forge toolto create brand-new levels that could surpass everything that’s come before. While the mode wasn’t completely beloved when it first appeared inHalo 4, with the benefit of hindsight it becomes clear that it was ahead of its time. With its continuous narrative event occurring over the course of different episodes, it very closely resembles the live-service model adopted by many multiplayer games in 2023. For a game initially released in 2012, it’s impressive.

Fans ofHalo Infinitehave been calling for the return of Spartan Opssince before the game’s initial release. Unfortunately, the mode has been very rarely mentioned by 343 Industries over the last few years, and there’s certainly been no official mention of the mode coming toHalo Infinite. It would be a good fit though, and it could be something that’s explored when higher priorities for the game are completed.

While Spartan Ops may have to remain a pipe dream for manyHalo Infiniteplayers, the game still has plenty upcoming for long-time fans of the franchise. A recentleak revealed that Infection is returning toHalo Infinite, and it seems as though it’ll be part of the game’s narrative event. As well as this, creators are still getting to grips with the incredible Forge mode, and combined with the custom game browser, it could be the perfect mixture to ensure players keep returning toHalo Infinite.

Halo Infiniteis available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
