Marvel Studios’Hawkeyeaired on Disney Plus last year, and the series was appreciated by fans worldover. One aspect of the show that many fans liked was its posters and artwork, which were all inspired by the comic series from Matt Fraction and David Aja. Turns out, the studio hired Aja at one point to create artwork for the series, but it never saw the light of day.

TheHawkeyeplot revolved around the holiday season, with a lot ofChristmas references and influencesand a cold, winter mood. All of this was reflective of the comic series, including the opening and closing credits of the television series, which were entirely inspired by the comic’s design. However, Aja revealed to his social media followers that he had created artwork forHawkeyethat was never used by the studio.

(Yes, they used the concept for a poster and yes, I was paid for it, no conspiracy, please),” reads the caption. It seems like a winter day with snowfall prominently featured in the artwork, and the protagonists are dressed in their hero costumes, while they carry their respective bow and arrow sets.

The artwork represents Aja’s traditional shaded tone style and uses a lot of purple hues, which is the color ofBarton’s and Bishop’s costume. Unfortunately, Aja’s art was not used as an official poster forHawekeye. But, as Aja states, the concept was used by the studio as inspiration for one of the posters of the series. It remains unclear why Aja’s artwork was not selected for official purposes, but the poster it inspired features Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld superimposed onto a recognizable New York street.

WhileHawkeyepremiered on Disney Plus in 2021, thestudio has been encouraging fans to re-watch the seriesduring this year’s holiday season. Multiple holiday-themed posters and fun behind-the-scenes videos of Jolt, the golden retriever that plays Lucky the Pizza Dog in the series, were shared by the studio on social media in the days leading up to Christmas. There was no Marvel project released during the holiday season this year, which is probably why the studio is urging fans to return toHawkeye.
