8Daphne’s Identity

Orphan Turned Royalty

Players first encounter Daphne inDD2during’The Gift of Giving' questlinewhere they’re tasked with finding different materials to help the poor folk residing in the slums. A cheerful, happy-go-lucky little girl, Daphne doesn’t appear anything more than an unfortunate orphan forced to stay at the Gracious Hand because of her circumstances.

In the’House of the Blue Sunbright' quest, players will come across Daphne again when searching for a lookalike to a noble boy to serve as his replacement for a couple of weeks. After completing the quest, Daphne will be sent on her merry way, and the maid who gave clues about her location to the player will be fired from her job. If players revisit the slums after a few days, they’ll find the maid in the slums. Talking to her reveals that Daphne is actually the noble boy’s twin, ousted from her position at birth by their family for fear of an inheritance dispute.

7Forged Items

Alternate Endings to Side Quests

Like the original title, forged items inDD2have a ton of hidden uses and serve as a means of deceiving NPCs and, sometimes, even other players. The forgery system is first used in the ‘Hunt for the Jadeite Orb’ quest, where two different parties demand the Jadeite Orb in exchange for a reward. Players can duplicate the orb at the forger, give one party the fake one and the other the real one, and collect all the rewards.

Similarly, Sorcerer’s Appraisal and Spellbound are two different quests issued by two different people. The problem is that both quest-givers want the same rare books.Using the forging systemwill allow players to satisfy the needs of both parties, but be sure to check which party actually plans on using the books. The game wants duplicates to always be in the back of a player’s mind as a potential solution to tricky quests.

6The Medusa

And Her Petrifying Gaze

After encountering the terrifying visage of the Medusa right at the start ofDragon’s Dogma 2, players will encounter the beast again in Battahl, the second region of the game. The only location where the Medusa spawns is a cave in the westernmost region of Battahl, guarded by stone statues of beasts and men the Medusa has petrified with her gaze.

Taking the Battahl Ropeways to head as far west as the contraption will go will leave players right at the edge of a river with a path leading across it. Follow the road until it bends, and a cave mouth will become visible. Stone Statues of long-dead monsters the Medusa has petrified with her gaze mark the entrance of the cave. Inside, players will find the Medusa, ready to fight amidst the pillars. If defeated in a certain way, players will even be able toobtain a functional Medusa’s Head, able to petrify anything if aimed at them.

5Catapults

Open Hidden Passageways

When players come across Catapults they might think of them as nothing more than random world items added to create authenticity in the game. That their function is nothing more than to sit there and look pretty. Their true purpose is much more interesting.

Players can load up primed Catapults - the ones that are ready to fire - with stones and rocks they find lying about in the area and interact with the Catapult to shoot the rock a vast distance. Sometimes, this will result in the rock impacting a wall of stone and breaking it, revealing a hidden path to a new part of the world. Exploring these walled-off locationsoften contain Seeker’s Tokens, making them necessary to 100% the game. In certain locations, players will have to use Catapults 3 times before the wall breaks.

4Adventuring At Night

Dallahan, Fell Lord, and More

Traveling at night inDD2is precarious and challenging, especially since the game makes the player practically blind at night. Combined with the increased strength of the enemies at night, players will often find it better to find the nearest campsite andrest till the next morninginstead of trudging onwards during the night. While this makes perfect sense during the early parts of the game before level 20-ish, as player characters become stronger and defeating enemies becomes easier, venturing out during the dead of the night doesn’t carry the same risks anymore.

In fact, doing so will make locating Seeker’s Tokens andGolden Trove Beetlesmuch easier since their telltale glow is much easier to spot at night. Not only that, but certain rare monsters like the Dullahan and the Fell Lord also only appear at night in certain locations. Encounters players will have missed entirely if they never take a nightly stroll. Defeating these monsters will give players rare materials necessary for upgrading certain gear to max level.

3The Sphinx

Ten Riddles, Ten Rewards

Despite the fact that Sphinx served as marketing material before the release ofDragon’s Dogma 2, finding this elusive beast is anything but easy. Not only do the players have to be strong enough to defeat the monsters protecting the area, but they have to be thorough enough to find both of the Sphinx’s hiding spots in the world. Not an easy ask.

And if that were not enough, it’s very easy to mess up the Sphinx’s riddles and destroy any chance at the rewards during a run.DD2’sunforgiving save mechanicsmake redos very punishing. However, if players stick to their guns, get all the answers right, and complete all of the riddles, the rewards will be more than worth it. TheUnmaking Arrow, theSealing Phial, and 100,000 Gold are just some of the rewards for humoring the Sphinx’s riddles.

2Newt Liqueur

Higgs’s Tavern Stand

Unlocking the Warfarer vocationinvolves completing a simple request of a drunk former Arisen:Newt Liqueur. Unfortunately, Newt Liqueur is an extremely rare item that can only be found in very specific locations. One of these locations is in Bakbattahl. In the eastern section of the city, players will encounter Earland, an NPC that sells a single bottle of Newt Liqueur for 2000 Gold. After purchasing the bottle from him once, he’ll relocate to the main market square.

If players pay attention to what Earland’s doing, they’ll find that he’s talking to a Beastren accomplice about a ‘tavern that sells Newt Liqueur but only to Beastren’ in Bakbattahl if a series of very specific steps is followed in a certain way. If players follow Earland’s advice to a tee, a new tavern will open its doors to them, allowing them to purchase three bottles of Newt Liqueur. However, human race players will need to wear aBeastren mask(purchased from the Scrap Store) to fool the NPCs into giving them access.

1The True Ending

Three Possible Endings

For the entire duration of theDragon’s Dogma 2, players will be given hints about the nature of the cycle of the Dragon and what it means when an Arisen defeats one. It’s never the end of the people’s suffering but the start of a new one. A major villainous subplot is centered around trying to find a way to break the cycle instead of continuing the infinite loop.

There arethree endings inDD2. One is where the player defeats the Dragon normally, one is where they sacrifice someone close to them to escape the fight entirely, and one is where they get the true ending by defeating the Dragon and destroying themselves simultaneously, ending up in the unmoored world. Players just playing the game normally will likely end up with the normal ending where they kill the Dragon, unaware of a huge New Game Plus awaiting them if they get the true ending.
