Initially announced in March 2023, the sequel totheHorimiyaanime serieswould be arriving sometime this year.Horimiya: The Missing Pieces,also titledHorimiya: -piece-, is the adaptation of various stories from the emanga by Daisuke Hagiwara that did not make it into the 2021 anime.

Crunchyroll announced the upcoming title, sharing the trailer and key visual after the series' stage event at AnimeJapan 2023, taking to social media on Sunday to announce that the upcomingHorimiyaanime will be available on the streaming service when it drops this July.

Horimiyafollows the relationship that develops between Kyoko Hori; a bright and extremely popular high schooler, and her gloomy, nerdy-looking and not-so-popular in comparison classmate, Izumi Miyamura. While Hori is extremely sociable and liked by everybody, at home she has to be down-to-earth and responsible in order to set a good example and take care of her little brother, Souta.

She keeps her busy home life a secret to avoid inciting worry; however, whena heavily-pierced boy with tattoosnamed Miyamura brings Souta back home because he had a nosebleed, the two agree to keep each other’s true identity a secret from their peers.

TheHorimiyamanga series by Hagiwara was first published in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine in 2011, and is an adaptation ofHori-san to Miyamura-kun, a 4-koma manga series by Hiroki Adachi, who writes under the penname HERO. The original series was self-published on HEROs website, Dokkai Ahen, running for 10 volumes from February 2007 to December 2011, whileHorimiyaran for 16 volumes from October 2011 to March 2021. TheHorimiyamanga wasserialized with supervision fromHERO. A six-episodeHorimiyaOVA was released over a nine-year period from September 2012 to May 2021, with studios Gonzo, Hoods Entertainment, Marone and Studio Kai being responsible for its production.

The popular 2021Horimiyaanime series was produced by CloverWorks, with direction by Masashi Ishihama; series scripts by Takao Yoshioka; character designs by Haruko Iizuka; and music by Masaru Yokoyama, all of whom are assumed to be returning to the production of the upcomingHorimiya: The Missing Piecesanime. The anime ran for 13 episodes from January to April 2021. In the 2021 anime, Kyoko Hori was played by Asami Seto, whileMiyamura was played by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. The upcomingHorimiya: The Missing Piecesis the adaptation of the various stories that were not included in CloverWorks' end-to-end adaptation of the manga by Hagiwara, and it is scheduled to broadcast in July, during the Summer anime season.
