The exploration possibilities are almost endless in Capcom’sDragon’s Dogma 2,with the developers boasting a map that is four times larger than its predecessor. With so much to see and do across the kingdoms of Vermund and Battahl, players will encounter a host of fantastical creatures, weird and wonderful characters, and visually stunning scenery.
One of the talking points since the release ofDragon’s Dogma 2has been the mystery of how to open the door in one of the many locations in the game, the Ancestral Chamber. Players have encountered this door, which can only be unlocked from the otherside, with seemingly no way to go around it. For those trying to access this blocked passage, this guide will explainthe steps you need to talk to unlock the Ancestral Chamber door inDragon’s Dogma 2.

How To Find Ancestral Chamber in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Ancestral Chamber is a landmark in Vermund that is situated close tothe town of Melve. There are two main entrances to this area, one north of Melve that is difficult to access, as it is too high to reach and requires the ladder to be knocked down, and an easier entrance that players will need to venture to on foot, as it cannot be accessed from Melve.
The second entrance can be found by journeying northwest from Vernworth until you get to the Malachite Forest, close to wherethe Elven settlement resides. There is also a third entrance that players can access once they have paid their first visit to Ancestral Chamber, and can be found by taking the narrow stone ramp as they exit the settlement and jump over the ledge.

The difficult entry point can be accessed by using vocation skills like the Mage’s Levitate ability, or alternatively, players canuse a Harpysnare Smoke Beaconand ride a Harpy to the entry point. Of the two, the second entry is recommended, particularly in the context of trying to open the locked gate, as players will first need to complete some prerequisite quests before they can get access to the gate.
How To Unlock The Ancestral Chamber Door in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Before players can get access to the locked door in Ancestral Chamber, they willfirst need to complete the “Gift of the Bow” quest in Vernworth, followed by the “Trial Of Archery” questthat follows. During the latter quest, players will enter the Ancestral Chamber location with Glyndwr to rescue his sister from an Ogre. To the right of the circular platform where the Ogre is originally found, there is a hidden passageway, where the locked door is found.
Once both quests have been completed, players will have the opportunity to get past the locked door by passing timeat the nearby campsiteuntil nightfall, as the time of day is particularly important. Once it is nightfall, simply enter the Ancestral Chamber and you will find that a host of new creatures, such as the poisonous Vernin Harpies, a Wolverine, and a gang of goblins, have spawned in the location and you and your Pawns will need to overcome a significant number of foes before you can make it to the gate. Once you make it to the gate, a Skeleton Lord and a couple of his henchmen will appear behind the door and will attack it to get to you, thus opening the door. After you defeat the Skeleton Lord and his subjects, you can venture in.

This method may not work on the first attempt, as many players have found this section to be a little troublesome to trigger. If you go into Ancestral Chamber during the night and find there are no new enemies to battle, then simplytry camping until nightfall again. Should this not work, save and exit your game and reenter, as this may trigger a change from within the settlement. You may need to try both solutions a few times, but you will immediately know it works because of the sudden crowd of foes upon you.
Locked Ancestral Chamber Door Rewards
Unfortunately, players will find that the area beyond the locked Ancestral Chamber door isn’t teeming with valuables like they hoped. In fact, it is the Skeleton Lord himself that carries the most valuable items from this journey. After defeating this formidable foe, players will be able to loot theFell-Lord’s Bone, which is a rare material that can be used toenhance your equipment. Aside from that, there is a chest with aStoutness Extractinside of it, which can boost both Defense and Magick Defense for a limited period of time.
Overall, the locked door in Ancestral Chamber is, sadly, not protecting any great treasures like you’ll find inVernworth’s Palace Vault, but it is worth venturing to if you are looking to improve some of your more powerful weaponry and armor. If nothing else, the experience will satisfy the curiosity of players and add another victim to their list of fallen foes.
