LEGOand gaming have been a match for a while now, with the LEGOvideo games specifically being fan favorite parodies of popular media such asHarry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, andStar Wars. The latest LEGO game,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, recently became both themost popular LEGO andStar Warsgamein Steam’s history, showing that the titles are still popular today. LEGO has gone beyond making games with LEGO characters, though, and has also been making some LEGO sets with video game characters.
Possibly the most well known of these LEGO and gaming crossovers are theSuper MarioLEGO sets. Beginning with a small set centered around Mario, theSuper MarioLEGO merchandise has grown along with the popularity of the items. Back in February, some moreNintendo LEGO sets leaked online, though fans were still unsure as to what these sets would contain. In March, it was revealed that these upcoming LEGO sets would be themed around Princess Peach.

Technically, thePrincess Peach set was revealed earlier in March than intended, though official material regarding the new LEGO merchandise was shown soon after. These sets promise to expand theSuper MarioLEGO universe, and nearly a month after they were shown off in images, a short video has released showing what the sets will look like. The first thing shown off is an impressive LEGO version of Princess Peach’s castle, with a Toadette and Ludwig minifigure standing outside.
Princess Peach is then introduced in her blockyLEGOform, and it seems that she will have some form of audio output in her minifigure. There are multiple cases of Princess Peach having short forms of dialogue in the trailer. From whooping as she swings around to crunching noises as Peach “eats” food, this upcoming minifigure seems a lot more expressive than the usual LEGO minifigure. The Princess Peach LEGO set is also shown off in full, complete with a castle tower and a small area for Yoshi.
The Princess Peach LEGO expansion set is available for pre-order now and will release on August 1. This marks the secondSuper MarioLEGO set released in 2022, after theLuigi’s Mansionexpansions released in January. With plenty ofSuper Mariocontent left to explore, LEGO is highly likely to create more expansions so long as they continue to sell well, though some are wondering what gaming franchise will receive a LEGO makeover next.
