This game is being touted as an interquel that takes place in between the events ofYakuza 6’s conclusion and the upcomingLike a Dragon 8. Unlike the eighth mainline game, instead of Ichiban Kasuga, players are once again in control of the infamous Dragon of Dojima, Kiryu Kazuma.Like a Dragon Gaidenwill also return to its roots as an action brawlerinstead of the RPG gameplay set by the seventh game.Earlier near the end of May,RGG Studio and Sega announced an RGG Summit eventfor later this June, where it will likely be the next event for fans to receive news about bothLike a Dragon Gaidenand8, discounting the possible reveals at Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Showcase a week prior. Considering the previous event held in 2022 gave fans cinematic trailers for both of these games, it is a safe bet thatGaidenmight get a gameplay reveal, as it is scheduled to release later in 2023. It notes that the game is slated for a Jul 30, 2025, launch, along with showing Kiryu in a brand-new suit.
This new black suit for Kiryu isn’t just for show either, as the listing describes anew fighting style for Kiryu Kazumathat he can use. Alongside his traditional “Yakuza” fighting style, Kiryu gains access to a new “Agent” style, with the former relying on the Dragon of Dojima’s incredible strength, while the latter style focuses on speed and precision, like the Rush style. Unlike the Rush style, Kiryu gets access to a number of high-tech gadgets, which can be seen in the presumed promotional images, complimenting his new “Agent” look.
The listing also shows off anew city forLike a Dragon Gaiden, which is bright, vibrant, and provides a number of classic nightlife activities. Despite being a smaller-scaleLike a Dragongame, it will have series staples like Karaoke, a Castle arena mode, and even the return of the fan favorite Pocket Circuit minigame.
