A newMario Kart 8 Deluxetrailer has been released, confirming the release date for Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass. The content arrives more than three months after therelease of Wave 2 of Booster Course Pass, adding a new series of content for Switch players to enjoy while the Mario Kart franchise does not see the release of a brand-new game.
Mario Kart 8was released for Wii U in 2014, and saw the release of theMario Kart 8 Deluxeport for Switch in 2017. The new version of the title brings the base game and DLC content, and some new features like a reworked Battle Mode and more playable characters available.Mario Kart 8 Deluxeproved to be a bestseller with fans, who were surprised at the February 2022 Direct. Nintendo revealed the Booster Course Pass, a long term DLC in which remastered and new courses would be added to the game over time. Now Wave 3 is coming, and specifically with a touch of 2000s nostalgia.

Booster Course Pass Wave 3 will be available starting December 7 at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, or as a paid DLC costing $24.99. As with therelease of Wave 1of the Booster Course Pass, Wave 3 will introduce two new Cups with four courses each. The Rock Cup features the GBA Boo Lake fromMario Kart: Super Circuit, 3DS Rock Rock Mountain fromMario Kart 7, Wii Maple Treeway fromMario Kart Wii, and Tour London Loop fromMario Kart Tour. The Moon Cup includes the Tour Berlin Byways and Merry Mountains courses fromMario Kart Tour, DS Peach Gardens fromMario Kart DS, and the 3DS Rainbow Road fromMario Kart 7.
With the announcement of the release date of Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass,Mario Kart 8 Deluxestill has three more waves of content to offer players. In this way,Mario Kart 8 Deluxewill receive 16 more courses throughout 2023, bringing the total of 48 courses available in the game. Previously a leaker revealedcourses that can be addedtoMario Kart 8 Deluxethat are not yet present, such as Vanilla Lake and Sunset Wilds fromSuper Mario Kart.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxebecame the best-selling game in theMario Kartfranchise in 2021. The originalMario Kart 8introduced antigravity sections as new features, which allowed players to drive on walls and ceilings and create alternate paths. The game also introduced all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and the Koopalings, Baby Rosalina, and Pink Gold Peach as new playable characters.
