BioWare currently has two hotly-anticipated games in development:Dragon Age 4andMass Effect 4. It seems safe to say that both are sequels to beloved franchises, and fans want them to take the developer to take the time and get them right. However, that’s also a balancing act among fans, as many want to know more about bothDragon Age 4andMass Effect 4already.
Recently, a merch website hinted atthe return of Shepard, and manyMass Effectfans ran away with this. BioWare did say this was a mistake, as the site runners are not affiliated with the development, but it was still enough to inject a little energy. Just before this, evenMass Effect’s FemShep actor Jennifer Halesaid she’d love to return.

She’s not the only one, of course, as while speaking to Screen Rant about her DC universe roles, Ashley Williams’ actress Kimberly Brooks expressed similar sentiments about returning toMass Effect. The long and short of it is that she’d loved to return but hasn’t heard anything from BioWare or EA (though it should probably be noted that she couldn’t say anything even if she had), also adding that she thinks the developer wants to put a more unique spin on it.
In her own words, Brooks specifically said, “God, I wish I had the answer to that, and I wish the answer was yes. I have no idea, I would love to be invited. I kind of always get the feeling, like, it’s new producers and new people, they kind of want to put their own thing in. So I will sit here waiting for the phone to ring, but I have no information on that. I wish I did, it was a great experience and I would love to be a part of anything they have in the future.”
If Brooks did return in some capacity, it’s worth noting that it may not be as Ashley Williams. In oneMass Effecttrailer, there is a shot showing both the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies, which BioWare described as intentional. This would suggest the game hinges on both somehow, but the events of Andromeda take place 600 years after the original trilogy. Unless there was some big Sci-Fi reason explaining it, chances are the newMass Effecttakes place around a similar time as Andromeda, not the original trilogy.
This would suggest that manyMass Effectcompanions would be long gone. Of course, some alien companions, likeLiara as she’s been shown in theMass Effecttrailers, could live that long, but not Ashley Williams. Either way, it seems everyone is just waiting to see what’s next for the Mass Effect universe.
