Summary
AsMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1approaches release, it has become apparent that there are some potential caveats with the collection of award-winning stealth games that may hamper some players' enjoyment. It is already known that the collection of originalMetal Gear Solidgames will lack keyboard and mouse controlsthanks to the Steam pages for the games; this fact has led some fans to question just how much effort has been put into the re-releases.
The lack of keyboard and mouse controls isn’t the only issue PC users are facing. One fan noticed thatthe way theMetal Gear Solid Master Collectiongames are titled in Steammakes it difficult for users to tell which game they are launching. Thankfully this is a mere annoyance and can be remedied by players familiarizing themselves with the game icons.

Alex Olney of Nintendo Life has reported some potential issues after a hands-on experience with the Nintendo Switch version ofMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1. The main issue noted was that despite the games being based on the PS3 eraMetal Gear Solid HD Collection, they are capped at 30 frames per second at a 720p resolution when running on the Switch. Konami explain that theMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1games will be “targeting the same resolution and frame rate” of the originalMetal Gear SolidHD Collectionon other platforms, that is 60 frames per second at 720p.
While this news might be disappointing for those looking forward to the Switch release,Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1has a decent amount of bonus contentthat should make up for the comparatively poor performance on Nintendo’s system. It could also be argued that a stable frame rate trumps a higher, less consistent one, but it is still a disappointing revelation.
An apparent leak that IGN reported as “accurate” revealed thetitles that will formMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2asMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, andMetal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Painmight be an exciting development; however, these games are much more graphically intense than the titles inMetal Gear SolidMaster Collection Vol. 1.It will be interesting to see how they perform.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1launches October 24 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
