On the r/Minecraft subreddit, a user named der_Boiii used an unnamed rendering program to create an Eye of Ender in 3D while claiming that it was rendered with ray-traced shadows in mind. The Eye of Ender was set on a table, with a tome placed next to it for scale and comparison. While it maintains its distinct green color and cat-like eye slit, the eye has a beady sheen, with light sources reflecting off it. While it may not be on the same scale asother fan projects centered around Nvidia RTX technologyor ray-tracing in general, the fact that the Eye of Ender has detailed reflections while still maintaining its eerie gaze makes it stand out. A few users within the comments made comparisons between the Eye of Ender andthe Palantir from works made or inspired by Tolkien, such asThe Lord of the Ringsmovie trilogy and Amazon’sRings of Power. While it is not known to make people into pawns of Sauron, the Eye of Ender is used to activate end portals, which are located withinMinecraft’s strongholds during normal play. Players will usually need to gather as many as 12 eyes and place them around the end portal frame in order to enter The End and face the enemies within, including the infamous Ender Dragon.
