Mojang studios, the creators ofMinecrafthave announced a new crossover with the footwear brand Crocs.Minecraftis no stranger to working with any number of collaborators with names such as Burberry and APPE providing real-world apparel as well as having their brand appear in-game.WithMinecraftbeing one of the most successful video games of all time, it makes sense for companies to try to associate with the virtual block builder. Most recently, Mattel, Mojang’s partner for their physical toy line,released theMinecraft Creator Series Camp Enderwood DLCmapto generate interest in the detailed figurines. The classic “Clog” shoe will have four different designs featuring characters like the creeper mascot as well as various farm animals found in-game. There will also be a Croc “Slides” version that has a subtle black and green design as well as a range of Jibbitz, the small charms that attach to the holes in the shoes. Various Jibbitz will be available separately and will include the likes of Steve, Alex, a pig, and even miniatureMinecraftblocks.Accompanying the physical announcement, a pair of virtual shoes will also be added to the game. Players will be able to add Crocs to their characters, which come complete with those recognizable front holes as well as an adjustable strap. The shoes will be perfect for those gamers looking to go for a stroll aroundMinecraft’s open world. The shoes will be added at no extra cost and are expected to be added to gamer’s wardrobes on the same date as the shoe release.
The Crocs design is one of the most distinct styles of shoe known throughout the world and is praised for its comfort and support. While a team-up may seem unusual toMinecraftfans, it does make a lot of commercial sense for both companies to leverage both brands. Mojang will be looking at this collab closely as they gear up to launch the next entry in the franchise.Minecraft Legendswill release in Apriland be a fully-fledged RTS game set in the blocky universe.
