While Epic Games’Fortnitehas become a phenomenon thanks to its battle royale mode, there is also a team-based mode that combines first-person shooter and tower defense elements calledFortnite: Save the World, focusing on players fighting AI monsters. The battle royale paid homage to this other mode byadding a skin for Constructor Penny intoFortnitethis week, and it seems more may be on the way.
Fortnite’s official Twitter account teased the introduction of Penny on August 12 with a series of emoji depicting a female construction worker. Soon after, prominent leaker iFireMonkey suggested that Constructor Kyle could be added as well, based on a pair of placeholderSave the Worldoutfits they discovered in testing phases last September that were both removed or encrypted inFortniteleading up to Penny’s introduction.

While this connection is no guarantee that additionalSave the Worldskins will be added, the addition of Penny suggests Epic Games could have plans to represent more characters. There is a long history of new content being leaked for the game, such as aFortniteGalaxy phone skin leaked in Julyprior to the Samsung tie-in event taking place.
Fortnitebattle royale is no stranger to having skins referencing popular culture as well, primarily from the world of comic books.Epic Games recently debuted a $29.99 Joker-themedFortnitebundlein collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment that will add cosmetics based on The Joker and Poison Ivy fromBatman’s rogues' gallery, as well as a new skin forFortnite’s King Midas. The bundle will also include new tools and 1,000 V-Bucks.
The popular game’s mobile version has been the subject of scrutiny for violating Apple’s guidelines with a new form of in-app purchases that resulted inFortnitebeing removed from the iOS App Store. Soon after that, Google also removedFortnitefrom its Google Play Store for trying to bypass its microtransactions fee, which led to Epic Games suing both tech conglomerates.
However, Epic Games went one step further than just suing Apple and Google by releasing aFortnitevideo that parodies Apple’s classic 1984 ad. It should be interesting to see whether or not this shake-up in the mobile space will affect howFortnitehandles in-game purchases going forward, but for now fans may still be able to expect skins like Constructor Kyle in the battle royale sometime soon.
