Warner Bros. Interactivehas consistently demonstrated its willingness to create an interesting roster for players to choose from throughout theMultiVersusopen beta and the launch of Season 1. With theannouncement of Black Adam and Stripealongside Rick Sanchez coming this season, the crossover fighting game is continuing to attract players from around the world with its new additions and interesting mechanics.

MultiVersusis largely successful because WB maintains the rights to many beloved personalities, with one such franchise being DC Comics. At the moment, the game already has several characters from DC, including Batman, Harley Quinn, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Datamined information has also revealed that members of the Teen Titans are on their way, namely Robin and Raven. Other leaks are expecting The Joker, Nubia (a variant of Wonder Woman), Static Shock, and Poison Ivy. However, Warner Bros. Interactive has the opportunity to expand its universe further by implementing a Batman from the year 2040, more specificallyBatman Beyond’s Terry McGinnis.

Terry McGinnis Could Bring Future Tech and New Abilities

The most well-known version of the Batman is Bruce Wayne’s version, but there could be a good deal of potential if the developers chose to include his protege, Terry McGinnis. SinceBatman Beyondmay not be receiving a live-action filmanytime soon, now is the perfect time for the franchise to make its way toMultiVersus. Terry would fit well in the Assassin or Bruiser class, though the former would be more interesting to see because Bruce’s version of Batman is already a Bruiser, and Terry’s skill set, while similar to his mentor, would function best as a fast-attacking damage dealer.

Additionally, the cyberpunk subgenrethat exists within Neo-Gotham and the futuristic technology there would be welcome additions to the game, while also introducing fans to a variant of Batman that not everyone may be familiar with. The Bat-Suit Terry wears was actually designed by Bruce twenty years prior to the younger man discovering it. However, it remained so extremely advanced in its technological prowess that it was still considered state-of-the-art in 2040.

Terry’s fighting style relies quite a bit on thisdark-colored and high-powered Bat-Suit, which makes sense as he didn’t have any formal training before donning the cowl. Features of this weaponized armor and suit would be incredibly interesting as abilities inMultiVersus, with the biggest distinction being that this version of Batman is able to fly, thanks to the capability of the flight pack quipped to it. Flying would be a great defensive maneuver for Terry to avoid Tanks and Bruisers, as Assassins need to avoid being pinned down.

While Terry can take a great deal of damage in the comics, or in theanimatedBatman Beyondshow, he’s known to be more impulsive than Bruce, and therefore is more effective against enemies when he takes time to strategize. Precision is key for this character, as he’s proficient at being able to take down opponents by sneaking up on them, as the Bat-Suit has a built-in cloaking device that turns him invisible, along with well-placed Batarangs. Invisibility would likely need a long cooldown and short duration, but when used at the right times could turn a fight inMultiVersus.

These Batarangs would work well in dealing long-distance damage. Another function that is worth considering is keeping the Batman’s bolas as they could be a good stun ability to freeze an enemy in place. It could make him somewhat similar to thesupport character Velma, who has lots of projectiles and can temporarily lock down opponents after collecting enough evidence around the stage.

Excitingly, thenextMultiVersusupdateis said to be the biggest one yet, and it’s clear that there is plenty of content for fans to look forward to as Morty Smith has recently been added to the game and more are on the way. One can only hope that in the future one of these announcements by the game developers will see the inclusion of characters fromBatman Beyond.

MultiVersusis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
