One Pieceis a popular shonen anime that follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, who has claimed that he will become the pirate king by reaching Laugh Tale. There are many pirates that have the same ambition.One Piecehas so many diverse and interesting characters with different motivations for either becoming marines or pirates.
Many fans herald some pirates such as Luffy and Shanks as hero in light of the treatment they receive from the World government. Some pirates have acted like archetypal pirates, robbing and pillage people, whilethe main protagonists of the seriesis loved by some pirates and marines. However, among these characters, there are a few who perhaps aren’t suited to the pirate life.
10Buggy Clown
Although he is a member of the legendary Roger Pirates, Buggy’s path as a pirate has been not short of comic and uninspiring. He rides on the fact that he was a crewmate of legendary pirates like Shanks and Silvers Rayleigh; he is cunning and lies a lot. Despite having a devil fruit, Buggy is stillone of the weakest charactersinOne Piece.
The world government made him a Shichibukai because of the notoriety of the strong pirates under his flag, whi are mesmerized by working with a pirate crewmate of the Pirate King. Currently, Buggy is a recognized as a Yonko after forming the cross guild alliance with Sir Crocodile and Mihawk. Yet, he has no authority, as Crocodile and Mihawk make all the decisions.
9Tony Tony Chopper
The doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, Chopper has a timid personality. His lack of interest in piracy is evident when he rejects Luffy’s invitation to board his ship as a pirate. His aim in the series is to create a drug that could cure all the diseases in the world, which led to him feeding Dr. Hiriluk a poison mushroom due to his lack of medical expertise.

However, he was pulled in by Luffy’s charisma, becoming the doctor for the Strawhats. Chopper still is a timid character, and many fans believe he only became a pirate because of Luffy.
8"God" Usopp
Usopp is the sniper of the Straw Hats. Growing up in East Blue, he would run around pretending to protect the village against pirates. He is known for his ludicrous and comedic lies, and is also a coward who is afraid of fight. He often hides behind the monster strength of his captain and other strong members.
Usopp is very good with his Kabuto andprefers to snipe opponents from afar. However, he is one of the weakest members of the Mugiwara Pirates. He trembles and hides during any confrontation. Upon meeting Luffy, he sees a real pirate for the first time and decides to join him after Luffy invited him.
7Hordy Jones
Hordy Jones only wanted revenge against the celestial dragons and the humans above ground, who were copying the celestial dragons by making humans their slaves. Hordy;s revenge did not spare his follow Fishmen. He and his crewmates kill anyone that opposes or stands in his way.
Hordy is a weak pirate, and relies on the “Energy Steroids” for the strength to take over the Fishman Island. His cruel nature even surpasses that of some the pirates in the series. Hordy’s only reason for becoming a pirate is to take over the Fishman Island and kill the world leaders at the Reverie.
6"Cat Burglar" Nami
Nami’s dream is to draw a complete map of the world. She has a dislike for both marines and pirates, because her mother was killed by the Arlong pirates who had the backing of the marines in her village. She joined Arlong so that she could buy off her village from the pirates, and used her abilities as a skilled thief to raise the money.

Upon joining the Straw Hats as their navigator, she still draws the maps of the islands they visit. However, she still doesn’t behave like a pirate, acting more like the thief she is famed for. Nami’scombat prowess puts her as one of the weakestmembers of the Straw Hat crew, as she often runs away from fights.
5"First Son Of The Sea" Jinbei
A guard of the royal court of the Fishman Island, Jinbei became the captain of the Sun Pirates after the death of Fisher Tiger. Jinbei only became a pirate and joined Fisher Tiger because of the way the World Government and celestial dragons treated the people from the Fishman Island.
He also became a Shichibukai to protect the freed slaves who became members of the Sun Pirates. Jinbei also pledged allegiance to Big Mom so that she could protect the Fishman Island as one of the four Yonkos. He later joined Monkey D. Luffy, using his name to protect his home island.
4Trafalgar Law
Although he is of the Shichibukai and a member of the Worst Generation, Law’s motive was to exact revenge and destroy the world due to the incidence at Flevance. When he was very young, he joined Doflamingo’s pirate crew to destroy the world before he was saved by Rosinante.
Law later formed the Heart pirate crew with the intent of defeating and killing Donquixote Doflamingo to avenge the death of Rosinante. He has no ambition of becoming the pirate king, and only wants to learn the complete world history.
3Nico Robin
Robin comes from a country of archeologists. Her family and friends were killed by the World Government, and their country was wiped from the map. Robin is wanted by the World Government because she can read the ancient language inscribed on the poneglyphs.

Until joining the Straw Hats, Robin was constantly running from being captured by the various people interested in her ability to translate the poneglyphs tolearn the location of the ancient weapons. Robin did anything possible to survive, from stealing to joining people with infamy and notoriety. She only joined Crocodile’s Baroque Works to gain access to the poneglyph in Arabasta.
2Boa Hancock
The pirate empress is one of thestrongest female charactersinOne Piece. She is the leader of the Kuja Pirates and the ruler of Amazon Lily. She is a former slave and detests all men except for Monkey D. Luffy. Boa is also a former Shichibukai, which excused all her actions as a pirate until the seven warlords system was abolished.
Upon the abolishment of the Shichibukai system, her home island was surrounded by the marines to capture her for all her past crimes putting Amazon Lily in danger. As a pirate, Boa never harmed nor attacked innocent civilians. Even as a pirate she was loved by many, primarily because of her beauty.
1Dracule Mihawk
The strongest swordsman in the world, Mihawk is the only one-man pirate crew inOne Piece. He is often very bored and has no recorded acts of piracy recorded so far. He is the dream for every swordsman in the series, and can fight evenly with Red Haired Shanks one of the sea emperors.
Mihawk owns the legendary black sword Yoru, which is one of theSaijo O-Wazamono swordsin the series. His strength is well-recognized across the four seas and the grandline. His character has no notable moments of piracy aside his fights with Yonko Shanks.
