While the release is still only set for a tentative 2021, Sega has added extra assurance by releasing the opening cinematic for the upcoming expansion. The opening movie definitely captures the spirit of action but also provides a sense of whatNew Genesisseeks to introduce.
The trailer immediately starts off by being far more faithful that otherPSO2intros. The above opening movie is entirely created with actual in-engine graphics according to the trailer’s description. Beyond just showing howPhantasy Star Online 2 New Genesiswill bring the game up to more modern graphical standards, it also indicates the core new feature ofNew Genesis. One of the bigger selling points of the expansion is the “open-field” gameplay which will see new mechanics introduced to the near decade old game.
