Summary

A creativePokemonfan has come up with their own design for an Electric-type alternate variant of Ninetales. Because there are so many different regional variants officially introduced by the developers in previous generations, fans are constantly inspired tocome up with their own Pokemon designs.

The long-runningPokemonfranchise is coming up on three decades soon. While Generation 10 of the mainline series seems to still be a while away, new current-gen remakes and spinoffs are rumored to be announced sooner or later. With so many titles and games available right now across different consoles and platforms, however,Pokemonfans have an endless amount of content to go through to tide them over until the next big thing.

Redditor yzziB, who regularly comes up with unique Pokemon designs, posted an alternate version of Ninetales. This time, the popular Gen 1 Pokemon, which already has a regional variant in the Ice/Fairy-type Alolan form fromPokemon Sun and Moon, gets an Electric-type version. It’s not clear if this design is meant to be a regional variant, but the Electric-type Ninetales is a lightning-white fox with a yellow bolt-like crest on its head, a golden mane on the back of its neck, and what looks like electricity or sparks trailing from its paws. Meanwhile, its trademark nine tails are bushy and colored dark gray, evoking a storm cloud, with yellow streaks at the tips symbolizing more electricity. YzziB also didn’t forget to create aShiny form of the Pokemon, with the yellow and gold elements traded in for an electric blue, akin to Alolan Ninetales.

Developer Game Freak has been increasingly experimenting with creating different forms of already existing Pokemon, as it’s a good way of freshening up the franchise’s huge roster without introducing too many new additions to the Pokedex. There are some players who feel that there already too many Pokemon, so regional and other alternate variants might have been a way to compromise. Because of this trend, some speculate that the nextrumored Johto and UnovaPokemongames could have a modified mascot or legendaryto change things up.

In the meantime, thePokemonworld has its hands full with the recent release ofPalworldon PC, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S. The action-adventure survival game features Pals, creatures that many have pointed out seem to be directly influenced by or copied fromPokemonand has become popular for its comedic and sometimes shocking take on the genre. LoyalPokemonfans are not too happy with the idea ofPalworld, resulting in a brewing fandom war that’s already going extreme.
