Bibarel is perhaps not the most popular Pokemon available in the franchise, though it certainly has its uses. Introduced in Gen 4, Bibarel is the evolution of Bidoof, and has recently featured in bothPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining PearlandPokemon Legends: Arceus. In the former of these titles, Bibarel is useful in that it canlearn most of the Hidden Movesrequired to traverse the game’s map, and even if the player doesn’t have access to the moves or the Pokemon, wild Bibarels will still lend a hand.
In the recently releasedPokemon Legends: Arceus, it seems Bibarel are again proving to be a surprisingly useful Pokemon in terms of traversing the game’s map. As is the case in most mainlinePokemongames, areas of the map are locked until a certain criteria is met. InLegends: Arceus,for example, a player can only cross the waters once they haveaccess to Basculegion, which is a large fish Pokemon. Some areas, such as Ramanas Island are unavailable until Basculegion is accessed. One player though, is looking to change that with the use of Bibarels.

Pokemon Legends: Arceusdiffers from the usual mainlinePokemonentries though, as it is an open-world game. While it does not allow for true freedom of movement, plenty of players have found little tricks to access areas before the game would usually allow them. One player posted a genius clip of them using a team of Bibarels to create a bridge over to Ramas Island, crossing the water without even touching it. As Bibarels are big enough to stand on and can swim in waters, they make for the perfect stepping stones.
This trick will undoubtedly be useful for those looking to speedrunPokemon Legends: Arceus, as it will allow them to traverse water without Basculegion. Other speedrunning tricks have been seen in the weeks since the game’s launch, such as one player who found aquick way to reach the top of Snowpoint Temple, however the Bibarel skip seems like quite the complex trick. As the player pointed out in the comments of their Reddit post, it is often the case that players will phase through the Bibarels, so it is best to try and place them somewhere in between land and water.
While it does seem a tricky thing to make a bridge of Bibarels, for somePokemon Legends: Arceusplayers who don’t want to wait until they’ve got a Basculegion to reach Ramanas Island, this is the perfect solution. It also gets around the annoying fact for many players that theirprotagonist can battle Pokemon but cannot swim.
