Pokemonfans are constantly asserting themselves as the most artistically talented of any pop culture fandom out there. This is proven by the regular outpouring of fan art through various mediums. One of the latestPokemonfan art creations going viral is for aPokemon TCGstorage box featuring the popular Pokemon Arcanine.
Arcanine is a Fire-type first-generation Pokemon, evolving from Growlithe. As part of the first generation, the Pokemon’s first game appearance was inPokemon Red andBlue.Arcanine featured as Gym Leader Blaine’s main Pokemon, with one fan giving the old-school pair a more modern redesign.

Posted onto thePokemonsubreddit, a user by the handle of u/FrigginBoomT has posted their impressively carved card storage box featuring Arcanine. Opting for the original instead ofthe new Hisuian Arcanine, the carving shows a highly detailed rendition of the fire dog-like Pokemon. Every major aspect of Arcanine is successfully recreated on the carving, from its jagged black stripes, to its diamond-shaped ears, and especially its billowing beige fur. The carver has even created distinct wood tones to differentiate Arcanine’s features from the background, giving it a professional finish that looks like a piece of officialPokemonmerchandise.
The craftsmanship isn’t lost on otherPokemonfans either, as the post has already amassed a few hundred likes. While the ArcaninePokemon TCGstorage box is certainly an impressive creation, it isn’t the first one from thePokemonfan/artist. A few months ago, FrigginBoomT made anothercarved box featuring the three Legendary birds. Basing their design off of the stained-glass card with Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, the artist created a visually interesting mosaic carving. While a much different style than the Arcanine box, both creations display incredible skill.
The prolificPokemonfan and carver’s creations don’t stop there. The artist hascarved up a pair of Mimikyu boxesas well, which feature two different versions of the same design. Both feature the Ghost/Fairy-type staring with its appendages creeping out from beneath its rag, but one is on a much lighter wood compared to the other. The lighter version is also on a square box, whereas the other is circular and features a spiral background. With a steadily increasing number ofPokemonwood box carvings, it should be interesting to see which one the artist decides to tackle next time.
