On Jun 04, 2025,renowned Twitch streamer Pokimanerevealed to her followers that a highly influential professional had abused his power to fabricate a romantic relationship with her and subsequently used it as a tool to exploit and target women within her community. This individual was familiar with Pokimane and other streamers for several years and held a significant position in a major company in the industry.
According to Pokimane, this person would approach women within her community, pretending to struggle with mental health issues, in order to gain their trust. He would then send them fabricated conversations between himself and Pokimane, as well as manipulated explicit photos of her, with the intention of coercing similar images from the women he was interacting with. Furthermore, he allegedly leaked confidential information acquired from his job and threatened to harm himself if any of the women came forward.
Pokimane claimed that many of the girls who were targeted shared numerous screenshots and videos of their conversations with the individual, providing evidence of deceitful and manipulative actions. Consequently, an investigation was launched, and the individual in question was terminated from his position following the inquiry into his conduct. However,Twitchpersonality has chosen not to reveal the individual’s identity in order to safeguard the anonymity of the women who came forward with their concerns.
The streaming andgaming industry has a long way to go in addressing its issues with sexual harassment and abuse, but the recent shift in public discourse and increased attention to these issues is a step in the right direction.
