Kerbal Space Program 2is finally out and while the release has hadvery strong feedbackfrom the community in regard to the game’s current state, it shows so much promise. The game is currently in early access and many of the hurdles will involve avoiding bugs or working around them. The developers have been very open with their plans and the patches should be relatively frequent and looks to improve the game in each step, rather than fix one problem but cause two more.

With that being said, there is plenty for players to sink their teeth into as the game features an all-new tutorial system, a bunch of new parts, and the same old Kerbonauts. attempt to take on board some of the tips below and enjoy the weirdly-wonderful early-access period that Kerbal Space Program is in.
8Help The Developers Improve The Game
First things first,Kerbal Space Program 2is an early access game withnew featuresand therefore will have teething issues. The players that are picking the game up without knowing the current state will be in for a shock if they are expecting a polished experience. Right now, the game has many bugs, but it is in early access and this is where the player base can help the game devs.
Despite the not insubstantial price anddelays to release, there are a lot of bugs in the game right now but players can use this time to help the developers build a bigger, better game than the original. Go into the Steam store, read through the developer notes, and players can see that the right things are being said. Help the community and be an active part of what could be a verysuccessful early access. Support the game, leave helpful reviews, pass on feedback, and share bug information for the developers to work on and eventually the diamond in the rough will shine!

7Fix Wobbly Rockets
This tip comes from Kerbal space expert, ShadowZone, and it’s all about fixing joint rigidity. In the originalKerbal Space Program, this design fault could be solved by using the auto strut feature. However, in KSP2, there is no auto strut feature just yet.
Auto struts reinforce any structure between parts and this adds some much-needed stability. The best part of this is that, unlike normal struts, auto struts don’t weigh or cost anything. To adjust any wobbly rocket syndrome in KSP2, players must enter the config files and manually set joint rigidity which is located in the file PhysicsSettings.json. Once located, the original number should be 1500.0, players will need to add some zeros before the period to this number and this will reduce the amount of bend in their rockets. This over-wobbly effect is currently being looked into and has been addressed by the developers in the upcoming patch, but for now, this quick fix will reduce rocket wobble.

There are over 350 new parts, including updated parts, so players will need to be meticulous when using the new parts. Each part added to a vehicle will have some basic numbers that players can glance over as a brief way of seeing the benefits of using one part compared to another. Things like the mass of an item, but players might want to press shift and read a more in-depth description of the part before deciding on whether to use it.

Not only will this give players a better understanding of the part’s benefits, but it will also highlight any downsides that may occur. This can be very helpful for new players to adjust their build as they prepare their first couple ofspacecrafts.
5Join The Community Challenges
Veteran players of KSP will need to think outside the box to really challenge themselves while there is no career mode in the game so far. Luckily, there are some great ideas floating around the KSP2 forums that can inspire some self-enforced challenges. Creating a personal challenge is a way of creating more fun but cranking up the difficulty.
There are plenty of tough scenarios within the game already, but why not try to complete a mission with certain goals in mind, like building the smallest orbiter? Head to the forums and join the community fun, there are even some weekly challenges being posted.

4Learn The Keybindings
In a game as technical and precise asKerbal Space Program, players will benefit from learning helpful key binds. This will increase efficiency in vehicle assembly but also allow for more creative constructions.
With that being said, some of the key binds are different from KSP1. For example, while in the vehicle assembly building mode, when trying to place a part if a player holds ALT this will turn off snap placement. Caps lock will enable fine control, which is very beneficial when in time warp mode. Not only can players learn the presets, but if need be, they can also reconfigure some key binds to make it more comfortable in the game.

3Alter The Graphic Settings
As beautiful as the game is in comparison to KSP1, KSP2 is being hit hard by the limitation in the optimization. Adjusting the settings can improve this, while the community waits for the developers to work through the backlog of bug reports as well as look into the best way to increase performance. With the sheer scope ofthe world-building, the performance will come down to what a player hopes to achieve and at what scale.

There is good news, however! The developer team has stated that the current selection of minimum requirements will not be the permanent requirements and that they are already looking into reducing this. For now, try reducing the settings of everything to medium or below, switch off antialiasing, and set max patches to display at one. This should bump up the average frames for most users.
2Kill The Kraken, Kinda!
Fans of the KSP franchise will be all too familiar with the term Kraken. For those not in the know, the Kraken is a running joke used to explain away all manner of mysterious problems that occur. The invisible space Kraken is usually the cause of physics bugs, missing ships, and random glitches that can’t be explained in any logical way. These Kraken attacks are part and parcel of the game, but the developers want to improve upon theincredibly successful first gameand reduce this to a minimum.
To subdue the Kraken, players have reported that spreading out their vehicles to different campaigns has significantly reduced the number of anomalies experienced in their games. Try keeping each mission on a separate campaign instead of all in one and that should help kill the Kraken.

1Tutorials Aren’t Just For Beginners
There are a lot of new features inKerbal Space Program 2, but not all of them are currently available. One massive change to the game is the tutorial system. The aim is to be able to welcome newcomers to the game with some training wheels that can ease the overwhelming feeling of despair. However, players of the original game should definitely take advantage of the tutorials. It may be basic to some veterans, but why not enjoy each new piece of the game?
While the community awaits more releases from the roadmap, learning some new tips and tricks from the tutorial will give them a sense of what the developers are building. Which is a more inclusive and yet vastly more detailed game than the original.
