In a new mod created by Marcos RC, players can explore the Ganado infested village ofResident Evil 4as CJ. The mod fully replaces Leon’s model with one of CJ, complete with lipsyncing and facial expressions. Cutscenes and gameplay can be enjoyed while CJ takes on the dangerous task of rescuing the President’s daughter. However, the voice lines remain the same as the original demo, so fans will have to adjust to CJ sounding like Leon if they choose to install the mod. Players can gain access to the mod by subscribing to the creator’s Patreon account.

This actually isn’t the first time that CJ has taken over for Leon in one of his zombie-infested adventures. A similar mod was released for theResident Evil 2remake, which slotted CJ into Leon’s role andBig Smoke as the stalking Mr. X. WhileGTA: San Andreasreleased nearly 20 years ago, the game’s iconic status and the rise of the “Ah s***, here we go again” meme in popular culture likely helped to spur the seemingly endless mods putting CJ in the limelight in all kinds of games.

Although there’s still some time left before players can get their hands on the full title, theResident Evil 4remake demo already has plenty of mods available for it. OneResident Evil 4mod adds Shrekto the game, while another adds fixed-camera perspective reminiscent of the early entries in theResident Evilfranchise.Resident Evil 4’s remake is likely to follow in the footsteps of that ofResident Evil 2and3, in that this will only be the tip of the iceberg for all kinds of zany mods that can either add or subtract from the fear of the survival horror game.
