Rune Factory 5, like the rest of theRune Factoryseries, is a game built on variety. The player alternates between farming, combat, andgetting to knowRune Factory 5’s town and inhabitants.

Like many modern RPGs, one of the activities on offer is crafting. Both the farming and combat will get more intensive as playersmove throughRune Factory 5’s story, and they’ll need to improve their equipment to keep up.

ButRune Factory 5, for better and for worse, doesn’t give players access to all of its systems at once. Before they can craft, players need to pass thecrafting license exam.

The Difference Between Forging and Crafting

The first two licenses thatRune Factory 5offers are the Forging and Crafting licenses. While these two sound similar, they cover different types of items. Forging handles farming tools and weapons, while crafting handles clothing, shields, and accessories.

Accessing the Exams

There are a couple of steps the player needs to take before they can take the crafting exam. First, they need to finishRune Factory 5’s initial tutorial day. Second, they need to go to the task board and complete their first quest, titled “First Directive.”

The quest is dead simple. All the player needs to do is, when prompted by Livia, go to the task board, take the quest, and then talk to Eliza back in the silo. They’ll fill the player in on how the task board works overall, and the quest is done.

Completing the Crafting Exam

From here, the player just needs to talk to Eliza again, and choose the “Licenses” dialogue option. Taking the exam costs 200 SP, and it’s a series of simple multiple-choice questions, listed below with the correct answers in bold:

Most of the questions aren’t too difficult. They’re either paired with blatantly nonsensical answers, or the answers can be learned naturally by exploring the game’s various shops.

Once the exam is completed, the player gets access toRune Factory 5’scrafting table. They should note that, aside from raw materials, players should also look for in-game recipes. They can try to craft without recipes, but working without one costs extra RP.
