Sea of ThievesSeason 10 recently hit the waves with a staggered approach, splitting the season with three core updates and a host of minor ones. 9Sail As An Emissary For A Guild
Sea of Thieves' Guilds lets players team up with up to 24 Guild members under their custom Guild name, banner, and more. However, some players might not be aware that they can sail as aSea of ThievesEmissaryas a Guild, allowing players to net even more buckets of gold and rewards.
However, to sail as an Emissary for a Guild, players should note they must first reach level 15 reputation for their Guild before they can activate this within a Sovereign representative tent. So, there is a small amount of grinding to do first to build the required reputation.
8Costume Rewards Through Guilds
There are some unique rewards players can earn as they gradually build up their Guild reputation through its new Distinctions system. As players level up their Guild reputation, there are unlockable costume rewards that let players role-play some of the core roles on a pirate ship, including a cook, navigator, cannoneer, and helmsman.
Some of the bestSea of Thievesoutfitsare often those that look the most authentic, so these could be a welcome addition for fans who prefer a more understated pirate look.
7Colored Rowboats
Although the return of colored rowboats from the former Arena might raise a few eyebrows for some players, for others, it’s a fun new addition with various colored rowboat variants to discover in the open game world, including the Azure Scout, Flaming Jackal, Golden Chaser, Lucky Rover, Regal Hound, and rarest Good Boy Liveries.
Once players get one of these desirable vessels, it’s also worth noting they can now save them to their ship once attached, so they’ll appear with the player’s ship every time players load up their game. This is a great time-saver, with players no longer needing to spend time hunting for one once obtained.
6Pac-Man Style Collector’s Treasure Chest Update
Over the years, variousSea of Thievesquality-of-life updatesgradually made their way into the game, such as storage chests, wider rotating harpoons, and more. Picking up and trying to place loot into treasure chests can often be fiddley, so players may welcome a fun update to treasure chests that enables players to chomp up treasure more quickly,Pac-Manstyle.
To do this, players can pick up the chest and hold X using an Xbox controller to store each item, complete with the lid opening and closing likePac-Man’s jaws.
5Combat Changes
Including taking steps to improve ongoing issues like hit reg and cheating,Sea of Thievesrecently introduced several combat changes to try to make the experience fairer when fighting other players inSea of Thieves' PVP. Players may notice when sword fighting, they’ll have the upper hand if they land the first hit, putting more emphasis on melee skill and encouraging those hit first to switch to defensive blocking.
Other changes include improvements to hit detection, modifications relating to Eye of Reach double-gunning, and more, as detailed in the Patch Release Notes 2.9.0.
4Repairing Row Boats
In addition to watching out for holes in their ship, players need to keep tabs on their rowboat, which can now crack open in the middle. Lowering rowboats from the ship and crashing into rocks can all mean it’s time to get out the wooden planks for a quick repair. Alternatively, players can repair rowboats docked to a Captained Ship through a shipwright for free.
Watching friends furiously trying to bail their boats as it fills up could be a fun new addition for players who like taking out their “rowey” for a spin. Just be sure to remember to pack the wood.
3Two Stoves On Ships
Players who enjoy exploringSea of Thieves’best fishing spotsand cooking fishy delights to sell may also be grateful for an extra stove on the ship. It’s also a time saver for anyone who likes to ensure they’ve got the best sources of health in hand at all times, plus those who enjoy burning a few extra bananas.
However, pirates should beware that an extra stove could potentially mean more flames to fan from tuckers setting fire to their ship with more space for food to burn.
2Moving Pictures For Captained Ships
In addition to the chance to obtain new costume rewards, players sailing for their Guild can also work towards gaining some more trinkets for theirSea of Thieves' captained shipswith paintings that contain moving images accessible by increasing their Guild Emissary Ledger.
As players rank up their Guild Emissary Ledger while sailing as an Emissary for their Guild, they can unlock these GIF-like, animated motion paintings along with other types of rewards like new titles and different kinds of decorative ship trinkets to adorn their ship interior.
1Pirate Perks
