While season 1 of theApple TV PlusseriesSeverancehas officially ended, there are plenty of fans out there that are still ruminating over everything they saw this year. Among those who have found that the work/life balance inSeveranceisn’t what it’s claimed to be is one viewer who noticed something rather odd about the keyboards the Innies use.

TheApple TV Plusshow centers around a group of people that have had their work lives and personal lives literally separated in their brains after undergoinga procedure known as Severance. The work personalities - known as Innies - never remember what happens outside their office at Lumon Industries. The personal life personalities - Outties - don’t have any recollection of what happens while they’re working.

It turns out that this separation of memories is apparently allowing Lumon Industries to do some pretty terrible things to theInnies ofSeverance. That was underscored by one particular find from a fan of the show who noticed that the keyboards the Innies use when they are at Lumon do not actually have a visible escape key. Twitter user Krystina Nellis posted a picture of the keyboard in order to show what she was talking about and pointed out it was quite a neat detail when it came to set design. Escape from the life of an Innie is key to the story, at least for a character known as Helly R who is so desperate to get out that at one point she tries to commit suicide after her Outtie refuses to leave Lumon.

Nellis went on to say that yes, any key can be programmed as the escape key. However, it’s extremely unlikely that Lumon is willing to let their employees mess with the layout. Considering thattheSeveranceantagonistsseem to have something more up their sleeve than just making sure people don’t remember what happened at work, it seems likely the firm prefers to keep its workers under its thumb.

The first season ofSeverancecame to a close recently with quite the cliffhanger for the show’s main Innies. However, those who are wanting to see what happens next to Mark, Irving, Dylan, and Helly got some good news just a day before the season 1 finale.Severanceseason 2 is officially in the worksand will likely shed even more light on just what exactly Lumon is up to with their radical medical procedures. Maybe, at least some characters will indeed escape.
