Call of Duty: Warzoneis a massive game with plenty of moving pieces for the developers to manage, with the Ghost perk being one of the hardest to get right. While the developers forCall of Duty: Warzonehave stated that Ghost is currently working as intended, some fans heavily disagree with this notion.

Not to be confused with the belovedCall of Dutycharacter Ghost, player frustrations lie solely with the in-game perk. Having appeared in manyCall of Dutygames, the perk’s main feature keeps players off radars. While it is useful in multiplayer due to the prevalence of enemy UAVs in the sky, the perk is even more powerful inCall of Duty: Warzonedue to how it keeps players off heartbeat sensors. However, players now believe it is failing one of its main functions and not keeping them off the sensors.

Players believed they had found this majorflaw with the Ghost perkback in April, with dead players reporting that killcams showed them popping up on heartbeat sensors — despite having Ghost equipped. Nearly eight months later, the issue seems to be continuing, as Redditor RealUserID says that they “watched on the replay” as a dot blips on the radar “exactly” where the Reddit user was. Turning and dropping the player instantly, RealUserID wonders if the Heartbeat Sensor was secretly buffed ahead ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSeason 1.

No such buff has occurred, however, and according to Infinity Ward, the issue players seem to be experiencing does not exist. When this Ghost perk bug started appearing back in April,Infinity Ward quickly responded, sharing that players were not actually being detected on the heartbeat sensors if Ghost was equipped. Purely a visual glitch in the game’s killcams,Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers were told not to worry about the issue.

Redditor RenePro echoes this idea in the comments, stating that it is a bug in the kill cam before asking a player “how many times have you used HB, not seen someone, and then get a kill right after?” The Reddit user’s argument in defense of the issue only being a visual bug is a fair one, as players may simply be seeing what they want to regarding the glitch. However, plenty of players point out the same situation happening in their own lobbieswith buggy heartbeat sensors.

A few commenters propose the possibility that RealUserID was killed by one ofCall of Duty: Warzone’s many hackers, with the heartbeat sensor simply being used to cover up the cheats. Regardless, the community seems split on the severity of the issue, and hopefully it is fixed soon — even if it is just a visual bug in killcams.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
