Summary
The long-runningPlayStation Starsoutage is finally set to end in the coming weeks, as confirmed by an update on the official PlayStation app. The loyalty program will come back online after 25 days, surpassing even the infamousPlayStationnetwork blackout in 2011.
Unfortunately,PlayStation Stars suffered a major outagein early June, with the program going down worldwide for over three weeks. Sony did acknowledge the service disruption, but didn’t provide a timeline for when it could be fixed. Thankfully, it appears PlayStation Stars will be up and running again in the coming weeks, according to a new message in the PlayStation app which confirms that the program will return soon in “phased regional rollouts.” At the time of writing, PlayStation Stars is only back online in Asia, with members in Europe and North America yet to be granted access.

PlayStation Stars Will Return in Staggered Regional Rollouts
Sony has not provided any further details regarding the staggered release, but the return of PlayStation Stars should at least be encouraging for users who have been waiting since theDays of Play promotional periodto cash in their points. During the early stages of the blackout, many PlayStation Stars users were concerned about whether their points were being tracked, or if they were even at risk of losing their accumulated points entirely. Fortunately, it seems Sony has been tracking points during the PlayStation Stars outage, so members should have no cause for worry.
However, it remains to be seen if Sony will provide a make-good offering to PlayStation Stars users once the loyalty program comes back online, as the outage prevented many from redeeming their points to make purchases. It’s also unknown why the PlayStation Stars outage happened in the first place and why it took so long to fix it, especially considering therecent PlayStation Network disruptionwas rectified in a few hours. Nevertheless, a lot of PlayStation Stars members are relieved that the program is going live again, and it’s only a matter of time until it will be fully operational in all regions.
